@baltra announces his forthcoming EP 'Where I End' and drops the introspective title track of the same name - due for release this November via his own @96-and-forever-records.

‘Where I End’ connects the dots between ethereal atmospheres and downtempo breakbeat made for the darker corners of the club. Swirling textures and shimmering synth pads combine with a vocal sample that collapses and fragments in an impressive display of Baltra's production techniques.

Wiltshire-born, Manchester-based Tom Jarmey (aka Ocean Stirs and one half of Mother Of Pearls) delivers the second chapter in his latest project, Wing Theory. Following releases on Holding Hands and Dansu Discs, whilst garnering attention from the likes of Four Tet, Bicep, Jossy Mitsu, Anz and Or:la, Jarmey’s latest EP explores brand new territory in an eclectic mix of both dance-centric and home-listening tracks.

Spanning 9 minutes, EP opener ‘Heated Silence’ takes the listener on an off-kilter, synth-laden journey through peak-time crescendos and fuzzy ambience. ‘Fog Runs Deep’ steers the record into deeper territory, providing a gritty, textural roller built for dark basements. Flipping the mood on its head, ‘Towering Mountain’ mixes ear-candy vocals from Holly Wilks with growling basslines and crisp drum work. ‘Flock Of Sparrows’ takes another turn—half-time breaks and swelling soundscapes create the darkest track of the EP. Rounding everything off, ‘Trill’ provides an emotional ascent into shimmering ambience.

Tom Jarmey - Trill

For his debut album Dip Shim digs deep into his past for his most personal release yet, drawing on his childhood in Spain for a genre-bending album of electronics, combining influences from house, techno, electro, downtempo, and ambient to create one of the year’s most essential releases.

Dip Shim, who also runs the Bolero record store in Malmo, Sweden, pushes and tweaks those silver boxes to create music with one foot in the past but looking to the future, from the fluid acid house of Dalaplan Jam and Bubble Gate, uptempo electro jams like BDP Fast Life and Tusso Arcade Force, to meditative joints such as One For Regen and Impossible Connection.

But although the album is eclectic, these 12 tracks are underpinned by Dip Shim’s unique hardware-led sound, proving he’s an artist with depth and longevity.

C2 Impossible Connection (Clip)

Shafkkat’s sophomore EP ‘Desires’ takes a step away from the dark and sludgy club aesthetic of his debut release ‘Ode To None’, by opting for a more technically and musically driven sound. The London based electronic artist demonstrates a grander versatility in his production by combining complex synthesis with live guitars, hand pans and piercing drums.

The theme of ‘Desires’ is evolution and transformation, which is showcased with complex transitions throughout the four-track EP, allowing the listener to be transported from headphones to the dance floor. With scattered influences of techno, breakbeats as well as more emotionally focused electronica, Shafkkat’s latest release contains a versatile sonic palette that that stays true to his "London Sound" whilst bouncing between genres.

Shafkkat - Desires

PREMIERE: Shafkkat - Pick Me Up [Blank Dust]

This track was made from a tiny fragment of a beat I made in the early 2000s which I managed to extend by copying the drums loads and then playing in LOADS of new stuff from my trusty Korg Minilogue XD (which sounds badass on this tune I feel). 

It turned into a kind of Mo Wax esque  instrumental hip hop type number - but with touches of Red Nose Distrikt in their too (shouts to Steven De Peven).  I've not made anything like this for years and it turned out really well so it makes me curious to try and do more stuff like this - if I could just retire now and make music somehow...

It was released on @blaqunumbersf in 2021 as part of their 'One For The Shelter' charity compilation with all the proceeds going to Takis Shelter which is a dog rescue centre in Crete.
