World On A Wire With Shir Khan - 29th July 2023

I love warming up and I love being a resident.  My first 'proper' DJ gigs as far as I'm concerned came when I was asked to join the crew of 'Come Shake The Whole' in London back at the turn of the millennium - what ever it is I know about DJing I learned from those nights cold starting warming up and following on from a heap of amazing live acts we had play (Hot Chip, Mocky, Zongamin and many more). When I left London for Berlin I kept flying back for Come Shake The Whole - I wouldn't miss it for anything. We even did one at Watergate.

In the last couple of years I've lived on the Northern edge of Mitte, just a hop and a skip from Stattbad Wedding and I've been playing there regularly enough that they asked me to be a resident. I get to play first for three or four hours, setting my own pace, trundling around whatever music I like as long as I prep the crowd for the guests - much as I enjoy my 'proper job' as a peak-timer in other people's clubs - it's my dream DJ job all over again and even better it's only a 10 minute walk home.

All things change and my wife's career means that very soon my family will be moving to London. Though I won't be a Berlin resident, I hope to remain one at Stattbad. Perhaps a little less often than currently but as often as I can. By way of thanks to everyone who's been to see me there - not to mention Julia and everyone at Stattbad for having me - here's the first couple of hours of my final slot there as a Berliner, if not ever.

We were hoping to raise £5,000 to Help raise funds for pioneering cancer treatment for University of Birmingham because we want to save our friend Lee's and thousands of other lives 💕

The girls did an 18 hour spin-athon and me and few others spun some tunes for them to keep them moving!

The total was subsequently raised and everyone should be very proud of what they achieved. Big love to all xxx
