Philippa Pacho is back on Bassiani airwaves for Podcast 178. The dynamic artist behind positivesource and STHLM Murder Girls knows a thing or two about setting a crowd in motion. Her shapeshifting beats and unmatched energy fast making her a household name far outside her native Sweden and more recent Berlin base. Her residency at Stockholm mainstay Under Bron is about a decade old, but there’s not even so much as a suggestion of hesitancy or weariness in her work, carrying a passion that’s infectious, and as palpable in a club as it is on screen (check out her recent sets on Hör). Her Techno really is powerful stuff, a sustained sonic onslaught, an unyielding beast, hulking and formidable but also smart. For many DJs whose sound is so heavily reliant on bass to carry forth their message, a slip into monotony wouldn’t be entirely unpredictable, but Philippa’s cunning use of supporting effects and melody keeps even a 6 hour journey like this one interesting from start to finish. This up and coming doyenne of loop Techno really is a force like no other.

This next guest has cast a large shadow over the technosphere, so large in fact, that no introduction could fully encompass the breadth of his achievements. But in brief: Ben Klock is a titan whose formative years were spent playing marathon mixes to the crowds at Berlin’s (then recently opened) Berghain. Off the back of his endurance sets and the club’s success he became a household name whose influence grew to be felt across the world, with a body of work that includes appearances at an exhaustive list of clubs and festivals, a number of hot releases on Ostgut Ton and an equally respected self-run label (Klockworks) to boot. On this second imprint, his own productions have repeatedly seen the light of day, alongside those from the likes of DVS1, Sterac, Stef Mendesidis and younger talents like Temudo and Vil & Cravo. The sound, ubiquitous as it is, will be familiar to anyone involved in the world of electronic music and there’s good reason for that: Klock’s deep and percussive work and ability to pull from a wide range of influences have earmarked him as a unique agent for the techno cause. To celebrate my 2K milestone on IG, I'm putting out some edits! 

First edit is a ghettotech/footwork (or simply put "160") edit of Like That by Doja Cat. The second is a more, ballroomish/Bmore club-esque edit of Sweetest Pie by Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa (though it's really just Dua).  

To be upfront, I LOVE pop music, like A LOT. Outside of the weird dance music that I listen to, I do like to listen to music that "normal" people listen to. Of course, when my two interests collide, the result is some pretty interesting re-imagination of what I personally like about said pop music. 

Side note: These are some of the first edits I've ever started (and finished) so these actually mean a lot to me. Hope you enjoy <3
