"Rounding out the compilation is Seattle-based artist/DJ/producer, Nark (a.k.a. Kevin Kauer, Editor in Chief of Nark Magazine and Bottom Forty founder). Nark currently resides at The Eagle in Seattle throwing a kaleidoscope of events, most famously Dickslap, a party that started as a political movement and an event that Thump/Vice Magazine says, “saved Seattle nightlife”.  He runs Bottom Forty, a collective of DJs, music sharing site, podcast and monthly event at Kremwerk and also curates an annual alternative pride festival weekend in Seattle, which attracts thousands and raises money for the LGBTQ community. His debut track, “Feels Alright”, is a sweet surprise.  Just shy of 9 minutes, it’s an epic tapestry of organic sounds that come straight from his deep acid soul."

A sunrise set on the BAAAHS (Big Ass Amazingly Awesome Homosexual Sheep) art car at Burning Man 2016, we started at the Family Jewels just as the sky started showing the slightest bits of color and light, then we found our way over to the Catacomb of Veils... as soon as the sun crested behind the mountain scape, shining bright into our eyes, the pyramids lit aflame and burned to the ground.

Nark, aka Kevin Kauer, founder of Bottom Forty and Nark Magazine, has devoted his life to dance music and club culture. For the last decade, he's helped cultivate Seattle's queer community, running a kaleidoscope of above and underground nightlife events including party/political movement Dickslap, a series of annual alternative Pride festival weekends, and the programming at Q Nightclub where he served as resident and creative director. For GhostlyCast #81, Nark delivers a marathon mix that serves as an emotional release and celebrates a recent revelation. "This year was about realizing I'm already exactly where I want to be and surrounded by boundless talent and energy here in the Seattle scene," he says. "Over the years of traveling the world and playing all these cool parties and making new friends and colleagues, I've only to come to realize how hard it is for anyone to separate friendship from competition; it puts a heavy emotional toll on so many people in the scene that builds exponentially, and it can really bring you down. For me, making this mix was about representing myself exactly the way I feel, not up to anyone else's standard. It's about letting go of the things I thought I wanted to chase after and instead, being in the present with myself, our scene and the people around me who need and support me as much as I do them."
