Goojaree, Fifth Mehla:

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਨਾਸਹਿ ਪਿਤਰੀ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੋ ॥
ਹੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ) ਪਿਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਭੀ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Remembering Him, all sins are erased, and ones generations are saved.

ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਜਾਪਹੁ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰੋ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹੁ ।੧।
So meditate continually on the Lord, Har, Har; He has no end or limitation. ||1||

ਪੂਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਕੀ ਆਸੀਸ ॥
ਹੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ! (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਅਸੀਸ ਹੈ
O son, this is your mother's hope and prayer,

ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਬਿਸਰਉ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਭਜਹੁ ਜਗਦੀਸ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
—ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਭੁੱਲੇ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹੁ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
that you may never forget the Lord, Har, Har, even for an instant. May you ever vibrate upon the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
ਹੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ, 
May the True Guru be kind to you, and may you love the Society of the Saints.

ਕਾਪੜੁ ਪਤਿ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਰਾਖੀ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਨੀਤਿ ॥੨॥
(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਕੱਪੜਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਰਦਾ ਢੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖੇ, ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੇ ।੨।
May the preservation of your honor by the Transcendent Lord be your clothes, and may the singing of His Praises be your food. ||2||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਚਿਰੁ ਜੀਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਅਨਦ ਅਨੰਤਾ ॥
ਹੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ! ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਸਦਾ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਤੇਰਾ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ । ਹੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਅਮੁੱਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
So drink in forever the Ambrosial Nectar; may you live long, and may the meditative remembrance of the Lord give you infinite delight.

ਰੰਗ ਤਮਾਸਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ਕਬਹਿ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ॥੩॥
ਆਤਮਕ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਸਭ ਆਸਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਦੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ ।੩।
May joy and pleasure be yours; may your hopes be fulfilled, and may you never be troubled by worries. ||3||

ਭਵਰੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹਾਰਾ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਵਉ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣਾ ਹੋਹੁ ਕਉਲਾ ॥
ਹੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ! ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਭੌਰਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ (ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ-ਭੌਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿਣ । 
Let this mind of yours be the bumble bee, and let the Lord's feet be the lotus flower.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਉਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਪਟਾਇਓ ਜਿਉ ਬੂੰਦਹਿ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕੁ ਮਉਲਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੪॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਉਂ ਲਪਟਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਪੀਹਾ ਵਰਖਾ ਦੀ ਬੂੰਦ ਪੀ ਕੇ ਖਿੜਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੩।੪।
Says servant Nanak, attach your mind to them, and blossom forth like the song-bird, upon finding the rain-drop. ||4||3||4||

Siree Raag, First Mehla, Third House:

ਅਮਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਬੀਜੁ ਸਬਦੋ ਕਰਿ ਸਚ ਕੀ ਆਬ ਨਿਤ ਦੇਹਿ ਪਾਣੀ ॥
(ਹੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ !) ਆਪਣੇ (ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ) ਹਰੇਕ ਕਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਇਂ ਬਣਾ, (ਇਸ ਕਰਮ-ਭੁਇਂ ਵਿਚ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਬੀ ਪਾ, ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ (ਉਸ ਅਮਲ ਭੁਇਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸਦਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ 
Make good deeds the soil, and let the Word of the Shabad be the seed; irrigate it continually with the water of Truth.

ਹੋਇ ਕਿਰਸਾਣੁ ਈਮਾਨੁ ਜੰਮਾਇ ਲੈ ਭਿਸਤੁ ਦੋਜਕੁ ਮੂੜੇ ਏਵ ਜਾਣੀ ॥੧॥
ਕਿਸਾਨ (ਵਰਗਾ ਉੱਦਮੀ) ਬਣ, (ਤੇਰੀ ਇਸ ਕਿਰਸਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ) ਸਰਧਾ (ਦੀ ਖੇਤੀ) ਉੱਗੇਗੀ । ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝ ਆਵੇਗੀ ਕਿ ਬਹਿਸ਼ਤ ਕੀਹ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦੋਜ਼ਖ਼ ਕੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
Become such a farmer, and faith will sprout. This brings knowledge of heaven and hell, you fool! ||1||

ਮਤੁ ਜਾਣ ਸਹਿ ਗਲੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
(ਹੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ !) ਇਹ ਨ ਸਮਝੀਂ ਕਿ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਰੱਬ) ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ 
Do not think that your Husband Lord can be obtained by mere words.

ਮਾਲ ਕੈ ਮਾਣੈ ਰੂਪ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਇਤੁ ਬਿਧੀ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੇ (ਬੇਈਮਾਨੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ) ਧਨ ਦੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹੇ, ਜੇ (ਕਾਮਾਤੁਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਰੂਪ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਵਿਚ (ਮਨ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ) ਤਾਂ (ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਮਜ਼ਹਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਵਾਰ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ) ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਅਜਾਈਂ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
You are wasting this life in the pride of wealth and the splendor of beauty. ||1||Pause||

ਐਬ ਤਨਿ ਚਿਕੜੋ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮੀਡਕੋ ਕਮਲ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਨਹੀ ਮੂਲਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
(ਜਦ ਤਕ) ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਕੜ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਹ ਮਨ (ਉਸ ਚਿੱਕੜ ਵਿਚ) ਡੱਡੂ (ਬਣ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ) ਹੈ, (ਚਿੱਕੜ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ) ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ (ਇਸ ਡੱਡੂ-ਮਨ) ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੀ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦੀ) 
The defect of the body which leads to sin is the mud puddle, and this mind is the frog, which does not appreciate the lotus flower at all.

ਭਉਰੁ ਉਸਤਾਦੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਖਿਆ ਬੋਲੇ ਕਿਉ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਾ ਨਹ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੨॥
(ਭੌਰਾ ਆ ਕੇ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਉਤੇ ਗੁੰਜਾਰ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਹੀ ਚਿੱਕੜ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਡੱਡੂ ਫੁੱਲ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ) ਗੁਰੂ-ਭੌਰਾ ਸਦਾ (ਹਰੀ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ) ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਡੱਡੂ-ਮਨ ਉਸ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।੨।
The bumble bee is the teacher who continually teaches the lesson. But how can one understand, unless one is made to understand? ||2||

ਆਖਣੁ ਸੁਨਣਾ ਪਉਣ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
(ਹੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ! ਜਦ ਤਕ) ਇਹ ਮਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ (ਮਜ਼ਹਬੀ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਦੇ ਮਸਲੇ) ਸੁਣਨੇ ਸੁਣਾਣੇ ਬੇ-ਅਸਰ ਹਨ 
This speaking and listening is like the song of the wind, for those whose minds are colored by the love of Maya.

ਖਸਮ ਕੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਦਿਲਹਿ ਪਸਿੰਦੇ ਜਿਨੀ ਕਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੩॥
ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ।੩।
The Grace of the Master is bestowed upon those who meditate on Him alone. They are pleasing to His Heart. ||3||

ਤੀਹ ਕਰਿ ਰਖੇ ਪੰਜ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਾਉ ਸੈਤਾਨੁ ਮਤੁ ਕਟਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
(ਹੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ !) ਤੂੰ ਤੀਹ ਰੋਜ਼ੇ ਗਿਣ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਪੰਜ ਨਿਮਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ (ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤਾ ਕਿ) ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਕ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਣ
You may observe the thirty fasts, and say the five prayers each day, but 'Satan' can undo them.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖੈ ਰਾਹਿ ਪੈ ਚਲਣਾ ਮਾਲੁ ਧਨੁ ਕਿਤ ਕੂ ਸੰਜਿਆਹੀ ॥੪॥੨੭॥
ਪਰ, ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਹੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ !) ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ (ਠੱਗੀ ਫਰੇਬ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਮਾਲ ਧਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ? (ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਧਨ ਦੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਵਿਚ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈਂ, ਇਹ ਰਸਤਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੪।੨੭।
Says Nanak, you will have to walk on the Path of Death, so why do you bother to collect wealth and property? ||4||27||
