Steps followed to create "Arbitrary Maths (A Numerology Chart in 60 Hz)” 

Mixed and render all five tracks into one stereo track.

Converted stereo track to mono.

Resampled at 600 Hz (60 Hz for each channel in the original 5 stereo tracks).

Amplified by 60 dB five times, once for each of the five original tracks. This caused massive distortion and clipping.

Divided 185 seconds (the original length of each track)by 60 to reach 3:08.

Arbitrarily deleted all sound up until 3:08 and started with 3:08 as my new zero-point.

Trimmed all except for first second beginning at new zero.

Copied 60 Hz signal from this one second mono track.

Added four additional mono tracks, while doubling the frequency of the original for each additional track. (second track = 120, third = 180, etc).

Exported to final mono file.

Saved file to iPhone and sampled it using a Make Noise Phonogene.

Set master clock on an ALM Pamela’s Workout to 60 BPM.

Fed clock to a Make Noise Wogglebug

Used BPM to both play, and then insert splices into original 1 second sample.

Used five LFOs (actually, all oscillators forced into LFO duties as my current LFOs don’t have sine waves as an option; Oscillators used include twin Pittsburgh Modular Oscillators, both sides of a Make Noise DPO, & the Z output from a Synthesis Technology E-350 Morphing Terrarium) oscillating as 60 Hz sines to control the Phonogene’s play-back and organization of the sample. Each LFO was fed to one of the five inputs on the Phonogene (the same number as the amount of chunks we were provided with).

The Phonogene’s signal was then split and the first portion fed into a Make Noise Echophon whose tempo was tied to the Phonogene’s End of Splice parameter. These are the sounds in the left channel.

The feedback circuit of the Echophon was fed through a Pittsburgh Modular Low Pass Filter (set to 60 Hz) which was then in turn modulated by a 4MS Pingable Envelope Generator that was pretending to be another 60 Hz LFO.

The second portion of the Phonogene’s out put was fed into a Make Noise QMMG acting as a lowpass gate. The Wogglebug’s smooth slope out attenuated the ring of the LPG. This gives a somewhat percussive sound to the right channel. I also sprinkled a light dusting of Thonk/Music-Thing Spring Reverb on that side.

I then recorded the track and arbitrarily manipulated the Organize control of the Phonogene by hand to thicken, or starve the audio outputs. While doing so, I thought about the number 60.

The reason for the two separate channels was to bring mathematical harmony back to the track as the original source material was in stereo.

Ironically, no Maths module was used in the creation of this track. ;-) Finally, I arbitrarily chose to use the full five minutes allotted for this Junto.
