It’s hard to describe the electric vibe and energy of Burning man, and then you Distrikt which in my opinion is on another level. Everyone who is there is 110% committed to the moment and soaking in every ounce of the experience, so when it comes to playing a set mid-day the place is electric. Playing at the House Of Yes in New York was exactly that vibe and literally people hanging off the rafters...honestly the best gig of the year for me and I cannot wait to play it again.

What an honour to announce this weeks special, a perfectly balanced and well rounded Bourbon. And it's n one less than NYC house legend Joeski serving you his favorite sip! 

The name Joeski should ring a bell with every house music lover out there. His career goes back to 1991, when he entered the NYC house music scene as a founding member of The Chocolate Factory DJ collective. He delighted crowds at almost mythical venues like Limelight, Tunnel, Palladium and NASA, helped turn “Save The Robots” into a NYC afterhours institution and earned his first residency at “Together” parties at the legendary Roxy, playing alongside the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Louie Vega and Roger Sanchez.

DJing since the late 80s and producing since 1991, over the years he's chalked up an almost endless string of singles and EPs on some of the most respected labels in the house game, from Siesta, Tango Recordings and Shaboom to, more recently, Saved, Defected, Crosstown Rebels, Moon Harbour and Poker Flat. That's as well, of course, as the many releases on his own Maya Recordings label, which he's founded in 2001.

Joeski's known for his versatile style, only doing straight-up house gets him bored, he once said. He likes to do different things within the genre. Joeski's Bourbon is on the high-energy side of the genre and includes several unreleased edits, remixes and originals of him. Also the sexy acid stomper "Miss you" which has just been released on Maya Recordings days ago, is in there.   

Fueled by his genuine love of the music, there’s no doubt that Joeski will continue to evolve both behind the decks and in the studio, captivating new generations of club-goers and maintaining his place as one of dance music’s most enduring talents.

British Co-founder of PROGRESS:ON at World Headquarters and DJ and Event Promoter. In 2024 Nasser has relocated from living in Cyprus for 3 to his hometown in Newcastle to be closer to friends and family. During lockdown his live stream series “Melodicast” grew into an exciting gathering of music lovers on Youtube, and when events opened up this became a sunkissed 3 year DJ career across the beach bar, nightclub and festival events based along the Mediterranean coastline, which has further curated his style today.

Nasser’s personal taste is inspired by the connections he made with strangers on the dancefloor when a special moment is felt together –  which he believes is only achieved with phones away so we are present with one another.

He is one of the first promoter DJs in the U.K. to bring regular daytime electronic music events to clubs and outdoor spaces in his hometown. Celebrating it’s 5th birthday this year, PROGRESS:ON, has uncovered a niche of people of all age ranges who want to party in the day and remain ready to take on tomorrow. Nasser’s event was born from moving into a house where he could throw house parties with loud sound systems, and they attracted so many people it eventually had to go public.

Today Nasser serves DJ Mag's favourite clubs including Guaba (Cyprus), Digital, theCut and World Head Quarters (Newcastle), and a recent highlight BEONIX Festival & Sunset Tribes Festival in Larnaca.

Nasser is growing an international electronic music following. His cross-genre journeys through rhythmic, bright and vibrant sounds are influenced by the basslines of Serge Devant, the grooves of Jimpster & Marlon George to the energy of Butch, Josh Butler & Nick Curly. 

Nasser regularly DJs at festivals and venues in the UK and across the Republic of Cyprus for GUABA, KESH, AGORA ROOFTOP, NOA BEACH and BEONIX FESTIVAL and throwing intimate terrace parties in Newcastle UK under his event brand PROGRESS:ON. 

When not DJing in-person you can catch him live streaming in front DJs and music lovers worldwide on youtube, growing awareness for artists, labels and enabling everyone to discover brand new releases from rising stars in the scene.
