About this compilation : 
We are in a new era, a time that many say has come to connect with the sacred feminine energy and sow the seed of healing to the wounded masculine energies. It is time to reconnect with the mother energy and ancestral wisdom, leave our fears behind and wake up all together.
In "Cantos a la Madre" (Chants to the Mother) each artist presents a vision of the concept of "mother" in their own "chant", forming a multilingual compilation that investigates the development of a new electronic music in harmony with the lyrical tradition of different cultures. It includes songs in native languages of South America such as Quechua and more unusual musical experiments in German, Ukrainian, Hebrew, as well as many in Spanish, English and more. 

With a large femenine presence plus the invitation to work in a mixed way between women and men, the album is an attempt to take electronic music one step further, rescuing the use of the human voice and, as well, reflecting on this broad and wonderful concept of ¨the mother¨, a concept that is transversal to all living beings on this planet.

All donations on bandcamp will go directly to the artists, heavily affected by the closure of all live shows for a long time. We invite the public to listen and collaborate with this project with the intention that any help, whether in donations or simply by sharing this album (that’s free!), is in itself a little but important seed for the rebirth of this art and part of its community.

We hope you enjoy this release with a flavor of folktronica, downtempo, house and experimental, created with endless love as a musical jewel to delight not only the ears, but also the heart and soul.

About this remix:
Zhyto (“wheat” in Ukrainian) was created by the Canadian group Nastasia Y & DoVira in the winter, in a cabin in the woods of Ontario. The song is built over repeated imagery of the traditional folk element of "wheat", symbolizing "home" for Nastasia, who immigrated from Ukraine to Toronto at the age of 11. This is contrasted with three folk songs (in Ukrainian,- sung by Ekaterina, and Polish - sung by Evelina Ferenc), intertwining the theme of the harvest with sorrowful songs about a bird's soaring flight. The song repeats the lines "A small bird flew over the field, looking for her falcon", in Ukrainian, referring to the lead singer growing up without her father. It ends with the line “Oh falcon, are you proud of me, like the wind is proud of the mountain?”
While the original explored spacious electronic sounds, the remix focused on bringing an earthy groove to the song, with guitars and percussion filling driving the song forward to downtempo dance floors.

DoVira is a Canadian group that fuses Ukrainian and Eastern European folk music with jazz, rock, experimental, and other world music influences. Fronted by Ukrainian-born vocalist/keyboardist/composer Nastasia Y, DoVira’s members include Patrick O’Reilly (guitars/synths/effects), Mike Romaniak (Ableton loops/sopilka flute), Max Senitt (drums), Derek Gray (percussion), Dan Minchom (bass), Anh Phung (flute), KC Roberts (guitar), and more.
With their recent material, DoVira’s been exploring the electronic direction, experimenting further with live laptop triggering, vocal looping, sampling, and DJ effects. Their latest release, EP ‘III’ has been described as “some of the most interesting world folk-tronica being produced in the country” (URGNT,Shevchenko Foundation). The music, inspired by ancestral sounds and ambient electronica seamlessly fuses English with various Slavic languages to create a sound that embodies an experience of duality so familiar to Canadians. Nastasia Y is a Ukrainian-born artist in Toronto on a mission to sing to the world about Ukraine, combining jazz, funk, rock, pop, and electronic elements with Slavic folk. Her music mirrors her journey, from being raised in Kyiv to her late father's folk/protest songs, to Canada’s jazz scene, to the Nastasia Y Band (formerly DoVira) fusing all her influences. 

Nastasia has collaborated with artists from Elizabeth Shepherd, to BLISK, to Oleh Skrypka, and is an active volunteer for Ukraine, having traveled to Poland and Ukraine to help those affected by Russia's invasion. Her album ‘Kyiv Soul’ (May 2024) features Juno and Grammy award nominated musicians, exploring themes of resistance, generational trauma, and ancestral magic.
