This is a bit different from my usual 'style', whatever that is :-), but I felt inspired by a dear friend, Milco Huisman [a brilliant and talented flute player], and said that I would try to create a piece whilst I have lost partial hearing [temporary we hope!], and see what the outcome was. This is it. I can 'hear' it, but only just enough to know the feeling I wanted to convey, though not even sure if I did this

I played by feeling more than hearing and just 'prayed' that volumes, mixing and sounds were ok, LOL

So a BIG Thank You Milco! :-)

(and also for the wonderful support from Erik Tavis [Melotone], Ian Gray [The Subwave Network, UK], Miles [Strange Meat] and of course John Styles [OneVision CrossWorlds], who have also offered to help out,  while I either adapt to this hearing impairment, or get it back - thank you so much, and others, too many to mention!) :-)

Thus, I would truly value your feedback :-)
… and wish me luck in regaining my full hearing soon! So I can hear everyone's creations properly too! I am looking forward to it!  :-)

කුවේණියේ ............

ලංකා ඉතිහාසයේ මුල් යුගයේ මෙහි විසුයේ යක්ෂ, නාග, දේව යන ගෝත්‍රිකයින් යයි කියනු ලැබේ. මේ අතරින් කුවේණිය අයත් වන්නේ යක්ෂ ගෝත්‍රයට යයි ඇතැමුන්ගේ අදහසක් පවතී.

කුවේණිය යන වචනය බිඳී ආවේ  "කුවන්නා"  යන්නෙන් යයි විද්වත්හු පෙන්වා දෙති. "කුවර්ණ" යන්නෙහි තේරුම අඳුරු හෝ කළු පැහැයයි. "කුවර්ණා"යනු දුර්වර්නයක් ඇති තැනැත්තී යන්නයි. කුවර්ණා කුවන්නා වී පසුව "කුවේණි" වන්නට ඇතැයි සිතිය හැකිය.

මැරයකු වූ  විජය කුමරු මේ කාලයේ කල්ලියක් හදාගෙන මුළු දඹදිව දෙවනත් කරමින් සිටියේය. පිය රජතුමා බැරිම තැන ඔහුගේ කල්ලියත් සමගම ඔහු රටින් පිටමන් කළේය.රුවල් නැවක නංවනු ලැබූ ඔවුන් ඉබාගාතේ පාවී ඇවිත් ලඟා වී  ඇත්තේ අපේ රටේ තම්මැන්නා පෙදෙසටයි. 

විජය කුමරු ගොඩ බසින මොහොතේ කුවේණිය සිටියේ වෙරළබඩ කපුකටිමිනි. විජය ඇයගේ උදව්වෙන් ඇයගේ  මාමාවරුන්  මරා  රජවිය. කුවේනියට විජයගෙන් ජීවහත්ථ, දිසාලා යනුවෙන් පුතෙකු සහ දියණියක ලැබුනා යයි කියනු ලැබේ. පසු කලෙක විජය කුමරු විසින් කුවේණිය නොසලකා හරින ලද බවත්, දරුවන් දෙදෙනා කැලැ වැදුණු බවත්, වැදි ජනතාව පැවැත  එන්නේ ඔවුන් දෙදෙනාගෙන් බවත් කියනු ලැබේ. මේ සියලුම කාරණා ඉතිහාසයට වඩා අයත් වන්නේ ජනප්‍රවාද (legends) ගණයටයි. "කුවේණියේ " ගීතය ලියවුනේ මේ ජනප්‍රවාද හා ඓතිහාසික කරුණු සිහියේ තබාගෙනයි.
