I wrote this song about the beginning stages of a relationship when you’re in the midst of falling head over heels in love, while simultaneously wondering what the actual f*&% is going on. Your life is changing, their life is changing, your priorities reconfigure themselves, and you’re taking on the general confusion of two humans blending their lives together. There are so many highs and lows, wins and losses, as you attempt to predict what will be-come of the situationship you now find yourself in.

With a driving beat from the very top, this song keeps you hooked throughout. Harmonies, guitar solos, epic drum fills and even an unexpected time change are a few of the elements that will stop you from clicking “next”. Coming from a background in classic rock and now being ingratiated into the Nashville country scene, I decided to put this song under the genre alternative. I’m not exactly sure what “alternative” means though… but does anyone? To me alternative means the song doesn’t fit in the box. It’s a little too heavy for pop, too melodic for rock, and missing some key elements for country - namely a country singer on it. Genre is always a hot topic of discussion in the music world, but with this song I just wanted it to be on a clean slate without a preconceived identity. Which now that I think of it, ain’t a bad way to describe where I’m at as a person either. Running Circles is the first self-produced song by pop rock artist Natalie Joly, who wrote, composed and performed all except drums during the Covid-19 lockdown. While the stripped down intro then catchy melody and encompassing vocals hold an uplifting, positive feel throughout, Joly’s songwriting describes difficult feelings that can arise in relationships and life. Her genius perhaps is simultaneously dealing with self-doubt, heartache, and feeling misunderstood while giving hope, a positive impression that leaves you ready to take on those challenges. It is the first release from her upcoming solo album coming in 2021.

I don't post too much out it online but I come from a super musical family and have been jamming and singing harmonies with my father since I can remember. “Will You Ever Stop” is about love you walk away from but keep wondering what might have been. Was it a mistake to leave? Will they ever change? There’s some mystery in this song, aided by its musicality that went through growth in recent years as did the artist herself; yet through it all, its core identity never changed. Elements of feel-good pop, dynamic vocals, and indispensable harmonies merge into the driving rock beat that forces you along and by the end, much like lingering love, leaves you wanting more. Written by Joly, who also sings and plays piano, organ, and guitar parts, “Will You Ever Stop” is the second song from her album releasing in 2021.

Natalie Joly’s “Yours to Stay” is a pop rock “power ballad” about elusive love and making one last effort in a relationship that has yet to fully come to be. As the song unfolds, so does the emotional journey driven by Joly’s powerful vocals and the song’s cinematic sound. Joly crafted three strong lead parts that intertwine beautifully, perhaps musically aiding the multiple lines of the story about what is, what might have been, and what will be. The video starring Joly releases the same day as the song and is the second of Joly’s videos filmed in an abandoned Wakefield mansion, now torn down. The song was written and produced by Joly who also performed vocals, piano, and strings (electronic).

Natalie Joly is an award winning singer-songwriter from Boston, currently based in the music capital of the world, Nashville TN. With influences ranging from The Beatles and Aerosmith, to Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars, Natalie’s music doesn’t quite fit into any one genre. Raised on classic rock, her music is drum and electric guitar heavy, donning harmonies that fill any room, with compelling lyrics relatable to all ages.
