The Definition:Music crew is more than happy to introduce a new member to their artist family and therefore we're sending a warm welcome to Natascha Polké! Backed by extensive studies in the UK metropolis of London, inspired by artists like Christian Löffler or Jan Blomqvist and drawing from her ever growing DJ & nightlife experience, which already saw Natascha Polké taking over slots at the famed Hive Club and other places, the Zurich-based artist developed a unique approach to what she describes as dreamy, melody-driven Electronica.

The title track and opener "Stars Wrapped In Skin" starts on a complex, melodically intricate level, combining warm, analogue basslines and crystalline motifs for the dancefloor whilst Natascha Polké's tender and fragile vocals add a certain element of beauty, melancholia and masterly sculpted sonic poetry, no matter if this tune is hammered through a big club P.A. or played on late night radio.

"I Don't Mind" indulges in deeply felt, most beauteous dancefloor melancholia and turns out to be one perfect closing tune for a long and ecstatic night out that's about to end way after the wee hours have passed.

With "Neverland" we see Natascha Polké's love for the dancefloor and huge basslines manifest once again, this time fusing with cascading synth lines and hyper-harmonic arrangements whilst her distinct vocal style harks back to a history of well beloved big time bangers, which left a mark and carved out their niche within the global musical consciousness and extended beyond the realm of club culture over the course of the past 25 years.

Last but not least: The subsequent "Neverland Aparde Remix" alters the original cut only slightly and takes the vibe to an even dreamier, more harmonic level perfectly suitable for daytime or early morning sets fully dedicated to a style oftentimes referred to as Melodic House - garnished with a bit of Natascha Polké's unique Indietronica twist, ofc.

“Theory of Light” is the collaborative project of Holmar Filipsson (Thugfucker, Lovestruckk & Life and Death) & Brian Cid (Lost & Found, microCastle, Extinct). Individually the two have released original music and remixes on various underground labels and are on constant tour playing clubs and festivals around the world.  At the moment they are working on a new album and string of remixes, due to be released in 2018.

ROC's "One More Chance (feat. MELI)" shares the familiar experience of wondering if you did the right thing ending your relationship. Most of us have romanticized how blissful it would all be with just one more chance. 

The video represents the feeling you have when you see an old photo of an ex in your phone, reminiscing about the best of times, and temporary amnesia about the truth, making up a romantic story of how it could be again. Starring world renowned Artist and Nudist Marisa Papen, she shares her thoughts on art, freedom and truth with us; "Being true to who we are is the most important thing to me.  We face daily news of abuse of power, sexually and otherwise. Many too fearful to come forward before are finally sharing their voice and truly being heard, knowing they matter, it's so freeing. We also see countless Instagram models looking for likes by exploiting themselves physically while often being judged negatively or blamed for unwanted advances for showing off their bodies. Freedom to be in our truth is a birth right, showing our bodies isn't an invitation for unwanted sexual advances, nor is being naked not an art form, so the controversy around people's rights to be nude feels like a law against our nature. Nudity seems to be extremely confusing for many, no one should be ashamed, abused or forced to hide themselves. I see our bodies as entirely unique, beautiful and ours to do with as we please, as long as we do not harm another. I hope that by sharing my body and art I free peoples beliefs of stigmas, empower them, and open their minds. Much like feeling confined in a relationship that isn't working, many are confined by societies decided on judgements. Now that people are feeling more courageous to express their truth, we are taking back our power. I love feeling free so I choose to make my art surrounded by nature and the beautiful places that draw attention to things that matter to me. Being arrested for my art and the feeling of being free is something I stand firmly against."

After living in London for several years and holding a residency at the Roundhouse (LDN), Natascha Polké has taken Switzerland by storm, regularly DJing at Zurich’s infamous Hive while also frequently playing big floors and festivals such as Terrazzza and Motion Beach Festival.

Natascha, however, feels equally (if not more) at home in the studio as she does in the booth. With her debut EP "Stars Wrapped in Skin”, released on ‚Definition:Music’ in spring of 2021 and mixed in collaboration with no other than Jan Blomqvist’s team in Berlin, she has immediately left a lasting mark on the scene. 

With her extensive indie/folk-pop background it might seem odd at first glance, that the gifted  singer-songwriter now can only be described as one of the up and coming techno artist within Switzerland’s vibrant underground culture. Yet, Natascha play- and powerfully interweaves what appears like an unusual match into sublime, sophisticated melancholic productions, transcending stylistic boundaries altogether.

Since her debut, Natascha Polké has proven incredibly consistent in the quality of her output with her release «Trojan Love» being handpicked for the cover of Spotify's next-to-break-through playlist «Electronic Rising» and her music racking up hundreds of thousands, nay, millions of plays on the streaming platform.

Not surprisingly, one might add, as it is almost too easy to get lost in her driven beats, scenic pads and intimate vocals that tell stories of a lifelong journey between reality and illusion. One thing, however, is crystal clear: the journey of Natascha Polké has only just begun.
