written in 1844 when Frédéric Chopin was 34 years old, berceuse is french for lullaby

originally it was called a theme and variations but was changed to lullaby for marketing purposes.  go figure

i close mic this to the strings - also close to the dampers - so, it's pretty easy to hear the mechanical noise of the piano itself on this very quiet song.  so you're hearing what i'm hearing but it may not be what you normally hear in a piano recording.  personally i like it - it's sort of the same thing as hearing string noise on a guitar when the players fingers slide to the next fret(s)

one of my favorite songs of all time but very difficult for me - so much practicing - such a razor's edge song to play all the way through
