Pianist and conductor Nate Fifield is a leading proponent of ballet music around the globe. Three of his albums have reached the top ten Billboard Classical and Crossover charts and his music is enjoyed by listeners both in and out of the dance studio, with an average of 25 million streams a year. A native of Idaho, Nate began piano studies at the age of 6. At age 16 he started training to become a ballet dancer, inspired by a beautiful ballerina, Lisa, who would later become his wife. At age 22, Nate left the ballet barre and began playing piano for ballet classes. His unique style of playing was informed by his experience as a dancer and attracted the attention of American Ballet Theater and New York City Ballet. While working with top dance companies in New York, Nate earned a BM and MM in piano and conducting from Mannes College of Music and accompanied instrumental recitals at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Turning his attention to conducting, Nate became a regular guest conductor with ballet companies and opera houses around the world, including San Francisco Ballet, Houston Ballet, Opera de Bordeaux, Ballet du Capitole Toulouse, and Semperoper Dresden. He served as Music Director and Principal Conductor for Tulsa Ballet and Nashville Ballet. For 5 years Nate was the Associate Conductor at Northern Ballet where he conducted over 80 performances a year touring throughout the UK and China. He recently conducted a tour with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, introducing classical audiences in Britain to some great but lesser known ballet composers. 

Nate is best known for his classical arrangements of pop and film music. Like early Renaissance composers who arranged secular street tunes for church masses, Nate believes that the fusion between classical and popular culture is the best way to breathe new life into traditional forms of music. Dancers appreciate the added emotional connection pop music brings to ballet class. In a Nate Fifield ballet class, the focus is always rhythmic vitality, beauty of melody, and rich harmonic depth. Nate lives with his wife Lisa and two step-daughters Kate and Jane and 40 beloved pets in Bountiful Utah.
