The Distance Between Hearts


The Cradle Galaxy was near but not near enough for those who had loved and lost during the silence.

The Veil had not only hidden the survivors from the universe, it hid them from each other.


Lovers torn apart.

Friends separated by chaos.

Families scattered like stardust.


Across ships and star stations, people searched the reopened networks for familiar names, letters typed with shaking hands. Sometimes, a connection flashed green. Sometimes, it stayed dark.


Every reunion felt like a miracle.

Every silence felt like a funeral.


Signals in the Starlight


When the Harrowguard restored full spectrum communication, something incredible happened:

Across light-years, voices once buried in static called out:

“Do you hear me? I’m still here.”


Long lost partners recognized a breath.

Parents cried at the sound of a child’s laugh.

Old friends celebrated like soldiers returning home from a war the stars themselves refused to forget.

As the vessels aligned starboard to starboard, the crews watched the two figures sprint through airlocks, stumbling into each other’s arms like gravity was trying to crush them together.

Then brighter.

Then unstoppable.


It wasn’t destructive like old supernovas, it was creative.

As the fleets neared the Cradle Galaxy, the reunited couple stood hand in hand on the observation deck. A voice broadcast across every ship:


“We’ve spent too long surviving.

It’s time to live.”


Screens across the fleet filled with the same image:

Stars blooming in synchronized light across the heavens.
