I sit here tonight. Think how amazing such a tiny thing can affect my heart. I still can’t believe. It’s just so crazy. Can’t wait for this new life to start. I’ll be here for you. I won’t say maybe. When we’re brought together our souls will never part. Deep inside me I believe, my son, I’ll keep you protected. When you’re scared, I’ll be there to comfort, hold you tight. When was the day that the whole of my life changed? Know what they say: mentally deranged. My new best friends, I have imagined them. But I cannot see that they're not part of my reality. I break down these walls of hysteria. I'm trapped behind these walls of dementia. Mentally exhausted. Inside my head I'm taunted. Paranoia, instability. The impending doom around me. The world I see not quite like the one you're used to. Hallucinations, fascinations inside my own delusions. An utter mess of confusion.//Black out, wake up on the floor. A broken window and blood on the front door. We've been here before. Got my ass kicked by myself again. So much for prescribed meds.//Stop it. Don't kill me. I'm too young to die. The many faces I see. The many voices who tell me that what I do is wrong. Why can't we all just get along? My neighbor's got my house bugged. The coffee my girlfriend makes is drugged. Through the door I walked and across the floor I thought, "How I hope that girl in the dress is the one I'm here to see." Your short hair and your knack for flair. Yea, your piercings and tattoos. I knew you were the one for me. At first your words were kind of short like you were bored. Then you laughed and that was that. I said, "Let's have a cigarette" And when I came back from grabbing mine, I saw you waited, gave me time. It was then I knew you felt it too. And I knew I had to hold on to you.//In your eyes I have got lost for miles and I somehow find that they always bring me back to that night. It was love at first sight. Just us two like minds converging on one path. It's where we're meant to be, forming future memories.//Since that epic evening we have been through seasons. Some cold and desolate. Some so hot they've made us sweat. But even through stormy weather we have roughed it together. You and I. "Ride or Die." For once those words aren't a lie. Jumped in. Some folks like to bitch and moan. Wonder how hard they'd implode if they'd lived what I've known? Some my fault and others not. I'll prove that life takes shots with all these bullets I've caught. Just spent another ninety days in jail. I guess three years wasn't long enough to get my shit together. Learn lessons harder than everyone else. I'll just keep getting stronger and I'll pass life's tests forever. I keep falling back into the wrong ways. Sagittarius, nefarious, living life my own way.//You can try to break this man, but I've learned how to pull (put) myself back together again.//Been broke since last president vote. Somehow I still stay afloat with some hustle and hope. Felony don't make it so easy, plus no license. Believe me, this life ain't no freebie. Been working hard over these last few years. This new life I'm about to be living, can't say I'm able to walk it alone. Thank God I have some angels in heaven and now I have one waiting at home. She shines like gold. Still keep a friend's words close to my heart. When things get hard they remind me where to start.//Two steps forward and no steps back. The will to get life on track. We veer off course. We crash and burn. If there's one thing I have learned: Never let go. You're stronger than you know.//Through tough times I'm blessed to be given a new life and a place to call home. Two Steps Forward

My name's Nate. I played in a band for many years, rocking out. Now I'm doing my own thing, an acoustic guitar and a voice. Basically I write my feelings and stories down about my life and put music to it, making it a song. This new album of mine tells the story of my life the past couple years, and it took that long to write because the songs were written as they happened or I felt them. It's a true story of finding light at the end of a tunnel and how being positive and showing love to the world can change your life.
