As part of the BFI's Animation 2018 season at the BFI Southbank a group of black British artists were invited to share some of their work and experience in animation with an audience. After an introduction by Osbert Parker and a selected screening programme, a panel discussion was held with Osbert, Maybelle Peters, Keith Piper and Phoebe Boswell, chaired by the BFI’s animation curator, Jez Stewart. We are delighted to share with you the audio of the discussion section of the evening and the following audience Q&A.

Objection is rife 
But we still move wit a purpose 
It’s all in the verses 
Nothing new under the sun 
Despite your beliefs 
Pops reign gon reign and I ain’t talking the weather 
Same Yeshua quiet a storm you in amidst of some terrors 
The fam really bout it no religion 
Far from an act but get wisdom from Acts 
True to it, not new to it 
Only want get caught up in the snares of the beat 
Not the snares of deceit
Don’t manoeuvre off my own strength, why I hardly worry
A mere man so I can’t say never 
Transparency and obedience 
Yields a breakthrough 
So that’s what we gon do
We gon ball forever
Far from a last dance 
Might 2 step to some 2 step
Or boogie to some Lucas 
Resilient to fluctuations 
When you been thru this 
You get acclimated 
Yaweh spotting 
And took the weight up off my shoulders
Now I run wit endurance 
Talking miles, yeah I ran some (Ransom)
Precious blood a Christ, paid it 
Now life exuding, redemption 
Mama we made it

Took grasp of the word and I grabbed it 
The past I let go I can’t salvage 
Put a cross to thy and  carry 
Patience on deck, help me float and I tarry 
Declaring things over life, if we do it then we gotta do right 
Tryna have a feast on and offa the table, 
fill up on spirit, but I far from a glutton 
Keep it coming I’m pacing not running 

Lifestyle turn Benjamin button 
The older I get younger my steps 
Childlike mental when Pops, Make a play 
No nativity, but receive wisdom from Acts 
Can’t reduce purpose to platinum plaques 
Daily clarity 
man can’t lack 
Till alla my brothers get eternal living 
Grace on your body 
Don’t sweat when you are forgiven 

Systems in place, take care of the fam 
I heart my mum
Don’t need a rack to serve her (Server)
The value in heart 
Uh..Where it’s at! 
Link up fam 
At the top where we at 
Ascend on the plans, that ABBA got set 
Now we ready to go 
When It’s all in the character, no need to show

nurture the growth
