Some songs are just meant to be.  In the earliest days of this song's creation, I came to a juncture that was make or break.  Stepping back, giving it some distance, molding it a bit more, it became a keeper, and one that was well received in its first posting over two years ago.  Debbie added her magic a year ago and its reception and audience grew even more.  Now Bix has added his superb vocal talent to take the song to even greater heights. What a wonderful tune Seagull sent me to collaborate on.  His nylon-string and bass playing is lovely but he asked if I could help with a second guitar voice.  The Taylor JKSM seemed the perfect fit with its sweet steel-string acoustic voice.  The undercurrent of meaning in the song is best described by Seagull himself:
"The song is called Stairway, and I realized that it reflects everyone's climb in life. We are encouraged and taught from birth that we must constantly get better at everything. Better upbringing, better behavior, better education, better job, better pay, better things, better health, better parent, better home, better car and so on...But what is the real goal of all this striving? Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with education hopefully producing better and more understanding and empathetic people, and a safer and nicer society. But.....and I think it's a big but.... as we are obviously being trained to buy all the happiness we need in life instead of experiencing it in a peaceful, healthy and experiential life." 
It is a question of what is ultimately important in our life and are we willing to make the climb to reach and attain it.  Something to ponder while you listen:)

Stephen a.k.a. @texmex-shaman and I have worked on some epic multi-artist collab tracks before (like The Holy Dumpling), but this is the first time that just the two of us have worked together. I came up with the beat and synths and because of the dubby kind of style I thought it was just dying for some guitars. I was stoked that Stephen agreed to take a run at this and even more so after hearing the results! The mixing on this one is a joint effort too.

Alien planet just coming light and an incoming futuristic anti gravity shuttle pod drops an alien creature off on the beach near a forest! Dazed and confused the creature is suddenly under attack and flees into the trees the hunters pursue with glea in there eyes! The creatures finds some cover as the terror and sadness builds he remembers and misses his family and children! Then suddenly he sees his chance and runs! The chase is on! It looks like the creature is going to make it to safety and freedom! Nearly there! Nearly! yes! yes! Hes going to make it!! Does he? I was watching a movie a few months ago made in the 80s called "The Emerald Forest" and I loved it. It was about the story of an  engineer Bill Markham whose son was abducted by an aboriginal tribe on the edge of the rain forest, then the engineer spends the next 10 years searching for him. I loved this movie, all the magic, mystery, danger lurking in the deep forest but also within the human jungle, and the fact that in the jungle only the strong survive, kind of what’s happening right now but also through time and history.
