Chapter one dealing with his family, early life, and first prophetic experience, known as the First Vision, in which God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ appeared to and advised the young Joseph Smith at the age of 14.

JSH Chapter Two

Joseph Smith explains his continued determination to receive God´s direction and follow it. His calling at age 17 to prepare to translate the Book of Mormon and the Angel Moroni´s prophecy of Joseph Smith´s future place and legacy in the world being called as a prophet of God.

JSH Chapter Three

Joseph Smith continues his official witness explaining his marriage to Emma Hale amidst growing persecution and growing responsibility with the beginning of the translation of the Book of Mormon, his first major task as prophet called of God. Also, the notable witness of Martin Harris concerning the professor Charles Anthon´s response to the translation and to Joseph Smith´s divine explanation of the work.

JSH Chapter Four

Joseph Smith explains how he was joined by the help of Oliver Cowdery and how they came to consider the question of autority to baptize. Their ordination to the Priesthood by the resurrected John the Baptist giving them the authority to preach the Gospel and baptize. Their subsequent baptism.

JSH Chapter Five

Part of an article written by Oliver Cowdery, Second Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Joseph Smith being First Elder). He explains his feelings at the time of ordination to the Priesthood by the resurrected John the Baptist. Of those early involved in the Church, this testimony is one of the most heartfelt and eloquent.

Appendix: The Witness of Oliver Cowdery

A friend asked me for a copy of the last talk I gave in Church. As I had only written an outline, I decided to record it instead and saw no reason not to make it public while sharing it with him. I apologize for the brief interruption at around minute 17, my recording studio happened to be my mom´s dining room table, hahaha.
