Raik feat. Henri "Hold Me E.P." (Golden City Sounds 002)

The double A-side EP, Hold Me, is Golden City Boy Raik's debut release. Raik founded the Hamburg-based label, Golden City Sounds, with German house legends Boris Dlugosch and Isi Tüfekci (otherwise known as one half of Digitalism) in March 2013. Hold Me is the label's third release, following Dlugosch's Look Around You single, featuring Roísín Murphy (Moloko), and Polargeist + Kruse + Nuernberg's Good Times, a deep house, feel-good anthem of the summer.

For the first track, Hold Me, Raik teamed up with Henri aka Henrietta Tiefenthaler, producer, DJ and also singer in the psychedelic Krautrock band Thrillionaire. With her romantic, dystopian lyrics, Henri's hypnotic vocal delivery gives an emotional depth to this slice of shimmery, pop-electronica.

The second track, La Musique, is a euphoric club tune, a perfect counterbalance to the more rhapsodic melancholia of Hold Me. With its hooky synth line, infectious groove, and sexy French spoken word vocal, its arrangement is flawless and guaranteed to suck you into its retro-futuristic world.

This long-awaited EP will be sure to deliver on the expectation.

Definition:Music have only gone and done it again! This time around, the Swiss label strikes another home run thanks to the emerging but inimitable talents of Dene Antony, a much heralded and talked about British native who's already lined out for the likes of Love Not Money and Undertechnical. Definition:Music, however, is the perfect place for a man of his talents, not simply because they foster both emerging and established producers - but also because Antony's well-executed house-tastic vibes are precisely in line with the label's raison d'etre.

The bumper-packed two tracker kicks off with the title-track, 'Trap'D'. A majestic dancefloor battle weapon which will have both the guys and girls dancing in unison on the floor, it's full of zest and moves at a relentless booty-shaking pace that we can't help but admire. The wondrous vocals weave their way in and out of the record; providing an extra layer to a track which is sure to go down a storm in the sets it's sure to pervade over the next few months. A perfect demonstration of how to combine old-school and modern techniques, it's nothing if not an extremely auspicious Definition debut for Mr.Antony.

On the remix front, it's returning duo Origins Sound who take the reins with their manic interpretation. The Bath lads' reworking of the track goes deep and dexterous in its search for pleasures, while the bellowing bassline keeps us on our toes thanks to a mound of suspense which comes about through the pair's liberal use of some ravey chords and a simmering dollop of rich, nuances snares. All things considered, it's another surefire winner from the Definition:Music crew.

I've never owned a Porsche (and in all honesty, unless it was a real classic like the 1953 one i just googled), I would never want to. But I imagine when you are in a group of people, some with cars, some without, and it comes to choosing who should ride with who, I'm guessing the porsche dude would probably always have a positive response. 

Which brings me to our main man Motez and the moment we have all been waiting for - the unveiling of the remix pack to his massive single, OWN UP. 

Screaming from the porsche, as I felt I was, the front seat was jam packed with goodness. 

First into the mobile was Ben Pearce who gives us a nice and deep moogfest, keeping the original vocal in tact but adding his distinct UK flavors to it. Up next in this all star lineup is AC Slater who really takes it to the clubs - this is petal to the metal stuff - but without the burnouts that make a hoon uncool, u know what i mean? A banger for girls to like even. Wonk tech at it's finest. Then we have our boy Silversix who really does just keep on getting better and better, fresh from remixing Nile Rodgers and Booka Shade, if u like MK, u will love this mix. But this porsche still ain't full - Fools Gold main-stayer Treasure Fingers steps up with the right amount of house and wonk and last but in no ways least is newcomer (tho trust us when I say he ain't new),Mo Di who delivers a mix that really is worth checking to believe. Swamp tech so full of swagger u may need gumboots. 

And if there ain't a mix here for you to play, step out of my porsche because you're walking home.
