After the successful first volume released last year, Jean Pierre's label Pakate Records is back with another Various Artists compilation to celebrate one of the busiest weeks of the year. As always, Miami Music Week means seductive groovy beats, stripped-back drums, and hip-moving Latin influences. With its seven original tracks - "Pakate Alike - Miami 2023" contains everything you need to get your body moving throughout all the WMC marathons.

Opening cut "This Is Why" sees label-head Jean Pierre teaming up with fellow NYC artist David Berrie for a malicious, scattering jazzy jam, followed by a tight techy number by Rhoowax and the highly addictive "Problema" by Shahar & Motum with Luquez on the mic. To follow, we welcome back Rhoger & Blockhead with the bubbling "G Woman", Cuttin' Headz affiliate Daniel Orpi, Trangaz & Lowest and Davide Mentesana, all providing essential dancefloor tunes. Alike it or not, this is a must-have. Bienvenido a Miami!

Jesse Calosso & Trangaz join forces on the former's mighty Boogeyman label for a fresh new two tracker that brings plenty to the dance floor. 

Primitive Speaking is a tribal cut with intoxicating vocal chants that feel like an ancient ritual. They come over chunky drum funk with lush synths woven in for a cultured and worldly feel. Moving So Crazy then brings a more wild percussive vibe with smart vocal sounds bringing the track to life as clattering hits and rolling bass work you into a lather. 

These are two fresh grooves that bring all new influences.

March sees the return of the label bosses Neverdogs as they deliver four fresh original cuts in the form of their latest EP, 'What Are You Doing To Me'.
 
Title cut 'What Are You Doing To Me' opens the EP with authority, combining infectious vocals and rolling drums with a snaking core bassline, before 'Acid Summer' takes cues from its title as the duo work a menacing, evolving lead-acid line throughout. 

On the flip, the bubbling 'Two Thousand Twenty' fuses skipping hats with further trademark Neverdogs percussion arrangements and vocal work, whilst 'Swing Dreams' closes proceedings in style with a slick pairing of organic drum licks, hefty kicks and rich chords-shaping up an impressive return from the Italian duo.
