Hans Zimmer &  Sickick remix Dune soundtrack parody￼: Hi I’m Paul 

Hans Zimmer join to TickTock this week, and as a result offered a challenge for people to remix the Dune soundtrack for the upcoming movie. I spent way too much time on this just messing around with band lab, which I never do. I found a very rewarding experience and honestly would love to do something like that again.

With more limitations, the more work you can get done in a shorter period of time without worrying about potential expectations of a result.

The original track was just ponds, playing synthesizer chords, that EDM artist sick kick remixed into a popping dance track. I layered Handpan, Moog talk box, melodica, and several harmonies in very weird Al Yankovic styles, to provide you what you are not listening to. Although band lab can only provide so much in the ways of mixing in mastering. I think the track still has potential Albeit not my typical work￼￼￼￼￼￼.

Inspired by a plethora of events that hit all at once in my life, the problem talks about how once you realize the problem is yourself, you are also your only solution. The problem covers this topic ￼and the complex emotions that come along with making that realization.￼￼￼￼

A rap about memes and meme culture, over a beat that is itself inspired by the now dead meme Yi Jian Mei, originally by Fei Yu-ching. 

The message of the song is to point out the issues with young artists and rappers on tiktok taking every chance to capitalize off of popular trends in memes by making subpar remixes to already popular music by dropping a few drum samples over a track and posting them in tiktok to global acclaim. 

Don’t try to monetize memes. That’s cringe. Instead, try to contribute something to the culture surrounding the meme, enjoy it because you personally identify with its humor, and engage with that community in a meaningful, or rather meaningless way. That’s the point of a meme anyway.
