This is an older suite for piano and flute, which was probably originally going to be for solo piano, but i found it difficult to put in the melody around it with the right hand. So i started out with all the chord progressions on the piano, then developed a slow-moving flute melody on top of it. 
It was composed right before i went off to college to be a conductor (while renting a room from a wealthy man's house, one of my most inspired times), and focuses on the richness of the piano chords and the soft layering of the melodic line on at the top. For those who have been around long enough, it may remind you of old public-television bumper music. Nevertheless, there was no real vision for the suite.

Csonata No. 8

A very sad duet, the first instruction for the performers is to play "as if weeping." It was composed after i had moved to college to study to be a symphony conductor, shortly after i started classes. 
This suite evokes compassion and pity, but is strictly an emotional song — there was never any clear vision or scene. The embedded graphic here is from a photo entitled "Forlorn," and obviously fits well. The piano accompaniment is minimal and as normally does with my Csonatas is designed to lend chord structure for the flutist (altho there is a section that allows the pianist to play out the tearful melody).

Csonata No. 13

Another flute solo envisioned for a sentimental girl. This one is a little more lively and yet tender. As is normal for my flute soliloquies, it is a girl's improvised emotional release thru her flute, unnecessarily alone and secretly pretty.
This was started and quickly completed, and i believe i composed it while whistling out the tune i had arrived at in my head, then using an acoustic guitar to realize the notes. (I must have used a guitar, because at this particular time, i didn't have access to a piano or any other keyboard.) 
But the nice thing about composing solos is you can disregard chord progressions when you create the melodic line, and focus just on the note progressions. This is very freeing for me, because i always focus on chord progression for all the music i create.

Skymeadows — Un Chanson (La Trill)

From the symphonic suite "Quiescence," this is the 2nd movement called " Le Chanson de Suave."

Quiescence - Song Of Gentle

This is the incidental music for my short story "There, Inside the Little White House," to be played during the opening title sequence and credits of the imagined short film.
The story was inspired by a real place in Clearwater, Florida, of which this picture depicts (altho that sprawling tree is no longer there), and is about a little girl who find a cemetery's maintenance shack, and it looks like a tiny white house for her to play in.

Prelude -- Portrait Of The House

The complete harpsichord concerto, i think it's my favorite from Bach. Consider this a preview of a wonderful double-CD with Christopher Hogwood conducting (I'll listen to anything he's a part of).
I share this with you, but i encourage to get the whole CD. Every classical music buff needs to have this in their collection.
