Long-time affiliate of the Freund Der Familie imprint Achim Maerz returns to the label with his latest album ‘Relief’, comprised of nine originals from the Hamburg-based artist.

Over the past decade Achim Maerz has been releasing his twist on dub, downtempo, techno and leftfield electronica via the likes of Semtek’s Don’t Be Afraid, Mark Rhein and Benjamin Brunn’s Wake Up! Records, Solar Phenomena and of course Freund Der Familie where he returns here with his latest collection of work.

Across the nine-track ‘Relief’ LP Achim Maerz displays the depth of influences in his music, from the cinematic electronica contributions like opener ‘Gondolier’, ‘Dream’ and ‘Memories’ through to more classic deep, dubby techno style cuts like ‘Black Hole’, ‘Changing Weather’, ‘Open Sky and ‘On The Way’.

Maerz also explores more experimental aesthetics via the intricately syncopated rhythms and dynamic synth work on tracks like title-cut ‘Relief’ and closing composition ‘Odysee’.

Detroit legend Rick Wade returns with his fourth Shall Not Fade release: a four track EP packed with timeless deep house.

On Late Right EP, Wade delivers the classic Detroit-sounding deep house with which his name is synonymous, at times experimenting with stylistic elements borrowed from tribal house, acid and ghettotech. The title track is a punchy deep house track with a funk-infused bassline and jazzy ambience which carries through to the next two tracks where it’s accompanied by the rattle of conga drums (‘Kabukicho’) and a gentle acid melody (‘Acid Creep’). Finally, ‘Quantum Jit’ brings things to a giddy close: a stripped-back club tune with skitterish claps and the syncopated breakbeat of drum and bass.

Alex Virgo breathes his love of disco into all that he touches. With each release the London producer explores the genre’s myriad forms, ranging from nu-disco to italo and cosmic inflections. On ‘Don’t Buy The Sun’ EP retro drum machines reverberate amongst full-bodied synth melodies, often backed by an assertive beat that gives the tracks their driving propulsion. At times, the music seems most fitted to an industrial warehouse setting whilst at others, a space shuttle ride to the moon.

Basic Moves 17 reignites the Brussels–New York connection with an EP from Reade Truth (Path, Planet E, Sonic Groove) under his Fiction Life guise, comprising six original Techno cuts from the now Berlin-based producer and DJ.

‘’One of New York's early pioneers of techno and DJ culture, Reade Truth has been an integral part of the cities' techno history. His first of over two dozen releases came out in 1994 on the Brooklyn underground acid label, Direct Drive. Since then, his releases have made many a mark on labels like Path, Sonic Groove, Planet E and more.’’

Across the ‘Basic Moves 17’ release, Reade delivers a selection of psychedelia infused techno cuts featuring vocals from the man himself on the downbeat opener "Social Overload" which lays down skippy, frenetic drums with eerie synth lines and gritty bass stabs before ‘Soul To Soul’ as the name would suggest showcases the soul of the Techno sound with intricate melodies, acid bass grooves and dynamic percussion. Classic Track "Power of Ideas" follows next, reworked from his 1998 1st Qtr EP, fusing dubbed-out string sequences, squelchy acid licks over a crisp house groove.

The c-side opens with ‘Cerebrum Crush’, fuelled by tumbling bass flutters, murky stabs and heavily swung drums before ‘The Present Moment’ merges unfurling synth melodies with vacillating bass notes and saturated drums. "From the Ashes" rounds out the release with hypnotic female vocals from guest Natasha Romanova, trippy off-beat stabs, expansive synth echoes and organic percussion throughout.

The Vicario Musique Recordings bosses have already made a mark under their Soul of Hex alias, pushing their cosmic, vibrant take on deep house. It’s caught the ear of labels and artists across the world; the likes of Delusions of Grandeur, Freerange Records and Quintessentials have shared their music and they’ve even earned the Larry Heard seal of approval, with the legendary Chicago producer stepping up to remix their 2014 track ‘Lip Reading’. As Mano De Fuego they’re also getting their music into the hands of pioneering figures in the American dance music scene - summer of this year saw them release a shamanistic debut via the inimitable Underground Resistance.

For their debut outing as Cyborg Nerve, the pair deliver four tracks of old school electro grooves.

Dissident Music proudly presents Thirteen, a luminous collaboration between two veterans of the U.S. electronic underground: Sandra Collins and Micke. It seems almost pointless to try and cobble together some sort of introduction of Sandra, as few American DJs have been as influential to the development of progressive dance sounds worldwide. She is a foundational artist, widely renowned for her brilliant DJ sets, best-selling mix compilations and trend-setting releases. Micke, now a Dissident veteran, also boasts an impressive history in the underground dance scene, carving his path through the East Coast club circuit, earning residencies at iconic events like Buzz in DC before embarking on his journey as a producer and touring artist. Together, they deliver a track that captures the essence of summer—melodic, uplifting, and undeniably dance floor-ready. Modern and classic and timeless all at once - Thirteen is like a love letter to all those magic end-of-the-set moments we’ve celebrated through the years. Elevating the release further, Quivver—AKA John Graham, AKA Skanna, Tilt, and Space Manoeuvres (again, is a proper introduction really possible?) offers a remix that seamlessly blends his signature progressive house sound with pure summer fire for 2025. We’ve been fans for over 25 years and having John on Dissident is a huge honor, to say the least! His remix here shows why so many consider him to be one of the world’s best producers of progressive and melodic electronic music. Completing the package, Kaspar Tasane, recently hailed as "one to watch" by Soundgarden resident Gustin, infuses Thirteen with his unique blend of elegance and drive. Drawing from his roots in Tallinn's electronic scene and his experiences performing across the U.S., Kaspar has been bringing the goods on track after track. With support from luminaries like Armin Van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, and Hernan Cattaneo, Kaspar's musical future is bright, and his remix of Thirteen is no exception!
