Welcome to Episode 24 of The Hard Files and what an honour it is to have this legend feature a guest mix... Charly Lownoise! Hailing from The Netherlands, he's produced a number of successful Happy Hardcore & Gabber tracks since the early 90's alongside his partner Mental Theo, since then he's done many more collabs and solo projects. I can't wait to share the GIS vs Dioxide stage with him at Kiddstock on July 23rd. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Early Hardstyle DJ Mix - Mixed By D-Railed

Underground, hard, dark, raw and submissive dance music. I was there to feel the birth of hardstyle. It was basically the bastard son of hard trance and merged a harder, raw sounding combination of distortion and limits from hardcore music. It found it's way into my heart and will never leave. I remember thinking how hard is this music going to get you know. Scot Project was satisfying for me at the time, but this stuff came through like a jack hammer!  

Lots of goodies on this mix. Reverse bass and gated kicks galore. Lars Tindy's 'Bitz Of Bass', whoa, massive sounding crossover hard trance and hardstyle tune, using classic Prodigy sample. Bobby V's 'G.O.D.' is also massive. I bumped up the BPM slightly. Gets a little rougher around this point with some Activator and DJ Michael, and a crazy snare riddled Showtek remix. I had to loop a lot of the end sections of songs to keep in time and remove vocal clashes. 

By the time A-Lusion & Overdrive's track kicks in, it's full power. 'We Are The Bass' Acti Vs. Mani does major damage, still have this on vinyl.  Tuneboy's 'House Nation', powerful, strong reverse bass sound. I've always loved the vocal sample. One of my all time fav's. 'Warfare' from Manuel ES, fck, devastating stuff indeed. I heard this at Bass Station many years ago and it left me legless haha! DJ Isaac has Cocaine running round his brain lol, and final peak tune... Blademasterz and there massive hit 'Masterblade'. We all know this 'blade' acid riff and I've always wanted to end a set with it. Job done.

Where to begin... 

My journey started in DJing at the age of 12 on turntables in my mothers house. With a passion for hard house music from a young age I know my love for this music was true. 

I bought stacks of vinyl from TinRib, Nukleus, Shock, Mohawk and Edm... The list truly does go on. But I never looked back! At such a young age I used to sneak into clubs for the parties where memories were truly made with my mates!

I started getting into the harder styles of music when I became part of duo / Trio Vishaun & Snatch and VST. With much success we had numerous Bionic bookings, Radio 1 plays and support from Kutski, as well as releases on many labels. Our unique reverse bass bootleg trip took off and we still stay in touch to this day 💙

But the journey doesn't stop there....

Now I'm taking the route alone and building the brand as SNATCH. 

I'm currently developing my own sound from the bottom and want to take it to the next level. 

I've created many bootlegs / remixes and have got support from the leading names in the Industry. Paul Clark, Cally, Mark Breeze, L.E.D, the list goes on. The tech trance reverse bass style music is something I've long loved and with the styles of electronic music constantly changing I know there is much success to be gained.

I feature in some of the leading dance events like Outrage, Logic, Escape in the park, Colour Clash to name a few, and have played in some of the biggest nightclubs in the UK / Wales.
