This devotional song is drawn from the Tablet of Visitation revealed by ‘Abdu’l‑Bahá, a prayer of profound humility and self-effacement. It is an intimate invocation and sweet supplication from the longing to be cleansed and detached from ego and to instead be immersed in the ocean of divine grace and selflessness.

At its core, this prayer is a quiet aspiration and longing of the soul, not for greatness over others, not for power, position, or prominence, but for the highest station of all—evanescent and selfless service to all humanity, which is what the life of 'Abdu'l-Bahá offered the world a pattern and model for.  It asks that the soul be made lowly, in the sweetness of surrender with its Creator, ready and yearning to be of service to others,  and like water poured out in love for others. The repeated refrain, “Give me Thy grace to serve Thy loved ones,” becomes both plea and promise, anchoring the heart in devotion, humility, and purpose.

Sung in gentle Papiamentu, the song unfolds like a whispered supplication—asking that the souls of the departed be forgiven, purified, and welcomed into the gardens of divine joy and enveloped in comfort.

Musically, the piece blends sorrowful folk tones with subtle African and Caribbean reggae vocal textures.  There is no percussion—only the slow breathing of acoustic guitar and layered voices rising like a prayer.  The refrain, “Kambia nan skuridat den lus” (“Turn their darkness into light”), gradually grows from a single voice into a soft choir, echoing the hope that divine mercy transforms every shadow into illumination.

Rather than mourning alone, the song gently moves toward surrender and peace—trusting that the soul continues its journey in the spiritual worlds of God.
