Jersey, Wales & Northern Ireland,
The Seychelles, Oman, 
Guyana & Iran,
.
.
From Manila to Syria,
It appeared loud & clear,
It went headstrong into Hong Kong, 
Australia & Tanzania,
.
.
Whether it’s in New Zealand or Zimbabwe,
Antigua or Malawi,
Come join in the party,
From Somalia to Bahrain,
.
.
The Sun never sets,
From South Africa to Egypt,
Afghanistan to Jamaica,
Fiji to the Emirates,
.
.
This was an international chorus,
Heard from Malaysia to Honduras,
So a Bengali in a World War,
Could die with a Bajan in Gibraltar,
.
.
Sung by the sands of the Sudan,
Or even by the first Americans,
They all heard the same brass band,
That played in Uganda & Vietnam,

.
This melody was a big hit in Iraq,
A century before Bush attacked,
It charted in Ghana & Botswana,
Sri Lanka & Trinidad,

When Nepalese soldiers fought in the Falklands,
They heard this anthem roaring,
And didn’t they all salute then?
And didn’t we all applaud them?

It’s been played with trumpets & flutes,
It’s been played with rifles & swords,
When some declared it as the “truth”,
Others weren’t so sure,

.
But it still pushed the Red, White & Blue,
From Brunei to Singapore,
Former Pakistan & Bermuda,
Cyprus & Cameroon,
.
.
Some Canadians know this ancient tune,
Much like Indians & Namibians,
St Lucians & Tasmanians,
Yemeni & Nigerians,
.
.
From the Hebrides to the Caymans,
It’s been sung by some Grenadians,
From the Colonies to the Commonwealth,
The Protectorate & its neighbours,
.
.
For hundreds of years these countries have cheered for “God to save this noble throne”,
So who would now then jeer, if they want some “saving” of their own?
