We felt in love with his way to build musical landscapes and we felt in love with his profound soul. When Zac & Bakka (BR) met for the first time, sharing a stage, it was the beginning of something big. After many DJ performances and studio collaborations they hit the charts alongside Ashibah with the tracks Make It Better, Distortion and So High. That made for 3 million streams on Spotify. Supported by some of the biggest producers from all around the world, which include artists like Joris Voorn, Hernan Cattaneo, Solomun, among others.

To date, Zac & Bakka have released individually and together music on many of the industry's most respected labels including This Never Happened, Sprout, Armada, Ministry Of Sound, Sony Music, Kitball, Bunny Tiger, among others and now JAKAL on Nativo. With this musical background their talent has no horizon when it comes to genres and styles.

About the artist:
Milu Grutta (drums, piano, samples, electronics) bought his first computer in 1998. It immediately became a powerful tool to further his experimentations with sounds and to aid his musical discourse to develop and fully surface. Combining sampling and sound processing with a multitrack software, Milu Grutta creates imaginary landscapes, where harmony and rhythm interact freely. Recalling compositional procedures dear to the first pioneers of electronic music such as Luc Ferrari, Terry Riley, Steve Reich, K. H. Stockhousen, he plays with phasing effect, repetition, chance, granular synthesis and micro-editing to create textures and moods. The sampling library he uses is derived from his omni collection of 10000 vinyls and CDs, ranging from space age Jazz to contemporary classical to ethnographical documents from rural Sicily. After many years of excursions and research in the sonic sphere, he now uses moods and beats borrowed from the world of electronic dance music combined with strings and horns orchestrations, with the intention of bringing the listener (and the dancer) to a state of bliss.

James Harcourt lands at Renaissance on an absolute tear. In just this year alone he's seen a track hammered by Tale Of Us (Beholden); released on luminary imprints such as Sincopat, Selador and Parquet and been remixed by indie-titan, Musumeci! Reach a little further back in the discography and the plaudits continue... he's clearly a producer in undeniable ascent.

Now he returns to Renaissance following a stellar debut on their Merin VA series with their first, full EP together, which is a diverse, 4-track player that pinpoints James' unique sound and meticulous production. Yet, his inspirations and influences may come as a shock, "At the time of writing the tracks I hadn't set foot in a club for nearly 4 years – even if there's the pandemic to factor!", he explains, "I just couldn't find much of the music I wanted from old-skool promo trawling, digital sites and record shops; I realised that if I wanted to create those moments I was looking for, the magic, dancefloor spark you only get at festivals, clubs and parties - that I should get on and make it myself."

So, with a clear objective, the Quartz EP was born with the dancefloor firmly in mind. Whether the peak-time power of Trust Me With Your Heart, the melodic stylings of Sister and Spellbound, or the emotive breaks of title track Quartz, James paints a musical picture that's full of power and beauty, "I was looking to fire up those moments in the witching hour when the music is enough to tip you from caving-in to raving the early hours away, eventually emerging to reality in the daylight hours!", he enthuses. 

The EP gets a further diversity-injection courtesy of Mr Morek, who brings a shimmer of indie class to Touch Me With Your Heart. "I wanted to approach writing this remix from outside the box," he says, "I set myself the task to experiment a little, yet still deliver a track that can harmoniously cross genres and fit in a wide selection of DJ sets."

PREMIERE: VERVE - Freedom (Michael A Remix) [Mango Alley]

The german duo Boss Axis made this remix in honour of the movie 'The Neverending Story' from 1984, to have a contemporary version for their sets. It is based on the main theme of Klaus Doldinger's track 'Bastian's Happy Flight' from the soundtrack. They believed the melody was so beautiful with a childlike innocence, both epic and adventurous.
