[STORY OF MY SOUL]

I played this beat every morning for a solid month, I let it resonate with my first thoughts of the day. Why? These are the ideas that I felt were placed on my brain most naturally as I woke up. One morning, memories of a Hip Hop event came into my head that seemed to connect with me. All the talent in that venue had a similarity; they all had a soulful element to their expression.
After writing some verse lyrics and ideas, I knew that the chorus had to highlight this connection between so many musicians out there - that our work is a direct verbalisation of our soul.

[STORY OF CONCEPT]

Why so gritty? The fact is I began writing & recording this song with a grim case of tonsilitis, which explains a couple things- firstly why the chorus sounds so raw, but also the actual concept behind the song. The inspiration to make music on a day that I could barely speak made me realised my priorities. Creative expression comes above everything, even when your situation seems to work against you. This expression is literally the finest agenda.  That is the concept of Nat James. 
The final line of the chorus - 'the Concept from Cammy to Manchester' - locks in the specific decision I made as an artist to follow my musical passion which began in my home city of Cambridge, UK, and initiate it as a career in the city of Manchester.
