Of course you're drawn in by landscapes or delicious cuisines, by the pace of life and the lifelong friends you make connections with. When you visit a new city, the questions swirl around your head 'can I see myself living here?', 'can I drop my life back home and start afresh here?' If the answers are yes, you might have some planning to do... 

After playing one of System 108's regular events in Moscow, Omnidisc boss Danny Daze became enchanted by the city and the crew behind the party-turned-label, so much so he extended his flight. He channels that passion for the Russian capital into his new release for System 108; a split EP alongside one of his production heroes and friends, Anthony Rother. Inspired by and dedicated to Moscow's atmosphere, the pair's Binary EP is a blend of raw dancefloor-orientated techno and electro, with the title track getting a remix from Etapp Kyle and Tarra who twit it into a bass-driven electro cut.

Sound Transitions is back with another excellent EP for your listening enjoyment. This one comes to us compliments of Bristol's own Quelaan in the form of the Glass Projections EP. It's six tracks of deeply groovy house filled with soulful chords, sliced vocal samples, and enough low end to rattle any big room.

Composed of three originals and three inventive remixes from Roaming Data, Hannd, and Phasmid, the Glass Projections EP is a snapshot of where house music is right now and where it may be headed in the future. While there are certainly nods to the past (especially in some of the excellently chopped vocal samples used), the music here is forward-thinking, interesting, and timeless. Quelaan creates a dark, steamy world that is surely informed by our own, but has the patina of something new, original, and exciting. This one is a must-have. The prolific producer Ben Pest has spent the last few years perfecting his unique take on electro, techno, acid and experimental electronica.

After the incredible response to his first release on Orson, the track Mouth Lawson was favoured by Helena Hauff and Dj Stingray. He has seen releases on Mechatronica, NSA, Love Love, I Love Acid to name a few… dropping his live set at Glastonbury last year and and set to tour Europe in 2023….

Ben Pest returns back on to Orson with his fresh and forward thinking styles for this EP, show casing his versatility as a work class producer.

Juno's review : "Having established notoriety for his live hardware-based sets, Ben Pest's latest electro cut, 'Robotic Sales', out on Brighton-based label, Orson, sees the incredible energy of his live sets made flesh - or vinyl, at least. Opening track, 'Robotic Sales' (Acid Redux) kicks the EP off to a flying start. The perfect balance of blistering acid pads and powerful electro percussion, the roboticised vocal sample, paired with 80s-esque synths gives this an undoubtedly classic feel. By contrast, the relatively pared back 'Wobbly Eggs' explores a clever inversion of the typical dance track structure, with key melodic components emerging in the breakdown and disappearing out of view when the main body of the track returns. 'Beefcase', the most acid-heavy track on the release, is a guaranteed floor-filler while the final track, 'Charizard Dream', is perfect for those moments of peak-time, out-of-your-body elation. A seriously strong EP from Ben Pest."

During the last 14 years Michal and his label staged events like Komiks, got the city freaking out at massive warehouse parties packed with experimental lighting. Komiks events provide a biotope where artists can connect and share their music and vision.

For the new EP on RFR, Michal Schwa teamed up with Name Does Not Matter (NDNM/Footclan) and synth prodigy Daniel Mencel. Boys went went deep into the kitchen and came back out with 4 dance floor ready cuts, sizzling from rare to well-done.

Follow the “Ape King” and jump into the frying acid pan! Straight forward stomping on the beat section, pretty classic when it comes to the bassline. And whilst the 303 is continuously marching towards our cortex, shit kicks in with a nonchalant melody part. Wait, are the old Djax Up days back?

“Obsolete” is a true feast for lovers of classic electro. And despite of the title, all its ingredients are perfectly well balanced. Sounds like Aril Brikha, Nitzer Ebb and Clarence G. (RIP) joined forces in the studio and filtered the essence of one of our favorite genres.

“Program Africa” is next in line. This thing is not about infinite drums and percussion massacres that we’d normally connect with it. It’s more like running down an endless hallway, shadows creeping off the wall and echoes whispering behind your sweaty back. If H.P. Lovecraft would have been a producer of electronic music, this is what he would have sounded like.

“You’re an ant, mate”! Alright, that so? Then I’ll be running up and down, back and forth this hill of bustling insects bouncing to a delightful mixture of electro and UK Hardcore. Cos this is what ants do, right?

Blue Hour is a label of which we are most fond here at Ransom Note, it represents that sweet spot between heavy hitting techno, trance and euphoric ambience. It's the type of inspiring, uplifting material which has been keeping us going through a miserable year and for that we tip our hat to them. This track is by Trading Xircles, a collaborative project which focusses on texture and soundscapes as much as it does club ready material.
