I also had the amazing opportunity earlier in the year to work with Joe, Liz and Jack from Ammonite films to fulfil one of my biggest dreams to work on a David Attenborough documentary!!!  Here is a sneak peek which has one of the sequences of a growing bioluminescence mushroom that I shot for them. In anticipation of the release of the most comprehensive and beautifully illustrated field guide of Australia’s unique birdlife. CSIRO publishing has released a video, taking a sticky-beak inside this exciting new guide to see some of the stunningly detailed artwork. The Australian Bird Guide

EnLIGHTenment - Ocean and Earth 2016.

Enlightenment is a multi channel 3D projection in response to the historical Cairns library and the natural environment so dominant in the far North. The project ran over two consecutive festivals and developed over this period combining digital video, 3D animation, projection mapping, photography and sound to create awe-inspiring 3D illusions, depicting some of the most distinctive aspects of the region’s wildlife, from giant barramundi to brilliant Ulysses butterflies.. The work draws upon distinctive natural elements relative to Cairns and this region, provides a moment of synergy between nature and architecture, The work includes a commissioned spoken word component by local writer Jessica Hart, responsive to the influences of place on our condition and referencing how inspirational the natural world can be in our pursuit of creativity, Knowledge and wisdom. The library is of cause an essential place to explore and share such ideas .The sound design included real recordings of local species to accompany the visuals

This recording was captured this year while working on the wildlife documentary Dino Bird  produced by WildBear Entertainment for National Geographic. An amazing prehistoric looking bird living in the Wet Tropics and known for having the lowest frequency call of any bird. This was an amazing close range encounter allowing me to captured a male Cassowary feeding with his two chicks. The high pitched whistle is the sounds of the chicks the low frequency thumping sound is the call of the male Cassowary. A life long lover of nature and constantly intrigued by the natural world and the invisible world of sounds that surround us. This has taken me on a journey of trying to combine my love of exploring and documenting nature with my passion for recording and understanding sound. The idea has since manifested into a number of interesting projects and is in a constant state of evolution. I like the idea of using art as a way to understand the world of science, using imagination to explore scientific ideas beyond the limits of traditional scientific methodology.

I have built up the gear to record and capture sounds for use in films, interviews and music projects or you can check out the library of sounds. I have worked on a number of film projects in a number of different roles and enjoy working behind the camera, which has helped how I work with sound. I like being able to provide a different point of view and unique service for people who like the idea of thinking outside the box, because I live outside the box. 

The most profound sound you will ever hear, is the sound when your heart breaks open
