Theo Parrish grew up on Chicago house parties. He went to art school in Kansas City, and then moved to Detroit. His eclectic DJ sets in Detroit in the late ’90s and early in this millennium are legendary. 

“Love of the music should be the driving force of any producer, performer or DJ. Everything else stems from that core, that love. With that love, sampling can become a tribute; An expansion on ideas long forgotten, reconstruction, collage. Using the same understanding openly and respectfully can turn DJing into a spiritual participation. It can turn a few hours of selection into essential history; Necessary listening through movement.” This personal philosophy gives shape and direction to the distinctive sounds that are created by Theo Parrish. Larry Heard, born 1960, is a musician widely known for the Chicago house music he produced in the mid-1980s and continues to produce today. 
He was a member of the influential group Fingers, Inc. and has recorded solo under various names, most notably Mr. Fingers. His smooth production style with soulful vocals and long instrumental passages that de-emphasized percussion spearheaded the subgenre known as deep house. One of his first releases was a collaboration with singer Robert Owens, released under the group name ‘Fingers Inc.’. The song ‘Mystery of Love’ instantly became a classic hit, rising to #10 on the Billboard Dance charts. Larry Heard's musical influence can be heard in the songs of countless artists. For those who appreciate warm and passionate compositions, Larry's music is pure magic. He has been blessed with a unique gift that sends listeners into a blissful euphoric state. 

Larry Heard mixed our 10th year anniversary collection in 2016, including some of the best releases of the Rebirth’s catalogue.
