This was an entry in a soundscape competition. A spring storm is moving away, and birds come out singing in the northern woods of the USA. Rain drops still falling and one last clap of thunder is heard.

In April, a new noisy neighbor moved in next door. I am not complaining though. ;) My new neighbor is a Brown Trasher. There is usually a nesting pair around my home each Spring. Listen to the varied, two syllable call of the Brown Thrasher. Note: this was recorded in my yard, so car noise can be heard.

Dawn recording from Oil Creek State Park, Pennsylvania, on May 20,2011. It was a cool, foggy morning filled with the sounds of birds. Birds heard are: Wood Thrush, American Robin, Oven Bird, Ruffed Grouse, Red-eyed Vireo, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Woodpeckers, and more. Also heard is a White-tailed deer. I deliberately scared the deer as it was walking towards my microphones. Mics used are Rode NT1-A's, using a custom mic amp and A/D converter streaming 24-bit digital data into an M-Audio Microtrack II. This is a free nature sound sample.
