Music to make people dance with big smiles on their faces. With a penchant for strong groovy base and melodies with "a nice bit of tension", Arkadyan and Demayä set about work on their collaborative E.P. Esperanza: “In an early mix of the title track, we used a sample of Manu Chao’s voice, saying ‘esperanza, esperanza’, but a chance encounter in Dubai with mezzo soprano vocalist Yana Mann changed the course of the E.P. Inspired by the trumpet melody and the beat, Yana Mann came up with a vocal line and the result was a one-shot success. One enlightening taxi ride with Jean Claude Ades later and things started falling into place. The result is a miniature collection of “octopus rhythms”, with organic percussion and electronic beats jostling for attention with a plethora of live instruments and on-the-road pocket-mic field recordings.

BLOND:ISH’s Abracadabra imprint drops its second release of 2025, welcoming back Presi On and Renate, who have teamed up with Marcus Santoro on their highly anticipated new single ‘The World’, featuring dance music collective Kuuda.

“The World was born from the desire to collaborate with Marcus Santoro. In fact, we connected through our previous release, ‘Mawu’, which Marcus loved and supported in one of his sets. Since then, we wanted to create something together. We began composing and crafting emotional and epic melodies while also paying tribute to the roots of Chicago house. Kuuda, a dance music collective from the UK known for their signature gospel vibe and captivating choirs, was tasked with recording vocal portion of our track. And that’s how we arrived at the final version. We sent our track to Viv (BLOND:ISH), who was immediately captivated, and soon after, she started playing it in most of her sets, to rapturous reaction, and finally a full release on her ABRACADABRA label.”
