Imagine a place where every creature living on our planet exists in unison with one another & the only thing that exists outside of that is a harmonious feeling of love.

That's the feeling I want to evoke each time I play, drawing on my raw and honest emotions. Playing music through the eyes & ears of my upbringing in a Black household, with roots in the Caribbean (Barbados) and ancestral depth in West Africa - listening to Gospel, Soul, Soca, Calypso, RnB, Dancehall, Jungle, Garage, House Music & all in between.

I challenge you to leave any prejudice, judgement, fear or negativity out of the equation at the moment you decide to click play on this mix and beyond - because none of that existed at the time in which this DJ set was recorded.

Soul Aspiration Vol.6 – Nat Wendell’s Christmas Mix.

As we're fastly approaching December 25th and Christmas is all about giving, I would love to be able to be Santa and drop you all a lavish gift for this joyous time especially after all the great support you’ve provided to me over the last year.

Instead, I’ve managed to mix & compile a selection of some New & Classic Soulful House tracks as a thank you. I wasn't going to do this mix until next year but, there’s no time like the present and I have so much lovely songs to share with you guys.

As this is my last mix of 2011, and as the saying goes, you must end the year with on a high (no puns intended), I thought I’d add my all-time favourite house track at the end of this mix, Track 13: The 1, 2 (Reelsoul Vocal Mix) - A G Thomas.

Inthebooth steps up with a diverse 3rd release. 

Nat Wendell kicks it off with a deep, bumpy groove complimented by a hint of soul. 

Alex Arnout steps up with a sleazy, rough, analogue type track to close the A side. 

The flip side sees a Paolo Rocco edit of a remix Pijynman did for Chez Damier and Ben Vedren's project H2H, while the record closes with a Pijynman original filled with corky jazz samples and chops. 

All in all the label sticks to it's roots style selection that caters strictly to the house heads.

> Bio: Berlin-based Nat Wendell, a seasoned DJ and producer with a profound connection to his core sound, is one of house music’s true exponents. 

Uniquely his, Nat has left an indelible mark on a world of electronic music so often bereft of the essence of groove—the same groove that now regularly sparks the dynamic atmosphere of venues like Berghain/Panorama Bar and Heideglühen in Berlin. His mission, since 1998, has been the same: to captivate audiences with his unmistakable sense of swing. 

His musical upbringing in the melting pot of cultures that is London has been the catalyst for his sonic identity, and his very first record purchase, "Snap - The Power," proved to be a powerful harbinger of things to come.  Immersed in the diverse Caribbean culture, with its roots in gospel, dancehall and soul, he developed a keen appreciation for the rhythmic intricacies of records. The influence of London's soundsystem culture is evident in his signature garage groove, though so too is the pulse of New York's 90’s house culture—from its intricate tempo to its powerful soul.

A move to Berlin in the 2010s saw releases on essential labels like Courtesy of Balance, thisisnegentropy, King Street Sounds, as well as his very own Depths of My Soul. His output has kept up pace with his gigs, and so too has his sound: on the dancefloor, Nat’s penchant for snapping grooves and desire to connect with the audience on a deeper level become an invitation to embrace the moment, surrender to the rhythm, and experience the magic of the dancefloor.

Nat Wendell continues to evolve into a maestro of sound, crafting a unique sonic journey that is deep, soulful, and undeniably groovy. That his music is now taking him worldwide, from the celebrated Fusion Festival to the hallowed floors of his very own inspiration, New York City, is a testament to the fact that his sense of swing has, and will, withstand the test of time.
