Original Disco

Ran my first club on O’connell street (main street) Dublin, since then I DJ a wide variety of events and venues, from festival outdoor set up to crypt in castle in Provins France to national concert hall and prime time TV! Playing to different cultures/ethnic groups, anglophone french german, macedonian (!). having attended college of Jazz performance/improvisation I have a technical musical background. my primary musical streams are open format, black american (hip hop, trap all the ways to soul, rare groove, r nb, disco (nu)) and house. i love getting people to dance, I am not one of those DJs who comes on, buries the head in the decks and plays a set list without take cues from the audience. Even for events where crowd are not dancing, you need to read the audience reaction. I have vinyl skills (‘turntablism’), I like working with vinyl including use as control for Rane/serato set ups and technic 1210s running off ortofon styli. Although most set ups don’t allow vinyl so I use CD control for Rane. I have a pretty deep knowledge of whats current, plus a good back catalog. I work with digital primarily  – macbook pro running serato software. also Ableton live 9, I produce. for sustaining long performances serato is the tool, for more musical and improvised stuff its ableton with hardware controller. I have 1000s of sets at this point. I can work with whatever equipment is on site or bring my own gear including PA/lights.
