October Heights

A kind of synthwave thing. Originally started life as a one-synth challenge, using TAL U-NO-LX for all sounds, but eventually switched up the drums to use Toontrack EZX No1 hits.

Orbital

Another synthwave type of track, also using TAL U-NO-LX for all synth sounds, and this time using Alesis SR16 samples for drums.

This one started life as an attempt at an entry to the one synth challenge using the Sinmad virtual instrument, but I ran out of time, and also found Sinmad to be a bit unreliable on my computer, so switched to TAL

Somedays its lonely; this is a delicate ballad. Striped down with just me, guitar and some strings.

Some Days

When I was in my early 20's, I was a very active Christian. Even to the point of going door to door trying to share the Gospel. Praying lots, trying to do the right thing and pray the right prayers and have the right theology.

But Why? Why was I doing this?

Truth be told, I was being selfish. Trying to make a name for myself. Well needless to say, I ended up in a mess of a state. It got to the point where all I could see was myself. Sometimes in a 

'Look at me!'

Kind of way. (For example when performing.) And sometimes in a 

'Woe is me!"

Kind of way. (For example when confronted with my own sin.)

And one is as deadly as the other. Both are fixing their attention on the self.

When where I aught to have fixed my Gaze on Jesus, the Christ. 

And that's what this hymn is exactly about. Except John Newton wrote the words to it.
