Just for the fact that I am putting this up 40 years later to the actual release date and that I can remember being at Skate Key in The Bronx on April 17, 1982.  Go ahead, look up the date, it was a Saturday Night adult skate session when Skate Key was on White Plains Road.

Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force.  Arthur Baker.  John Robie.  Tommy Boy Records. One of the most important Dance records of all time.  40 years.  Where did all the time go.  

So truth be told, the vocals are from the original version, stripped from the actual 2 inch master when Lenny Dee & I were working on a Brooklyn Funk Essentials track for Arthur back in 1988.  Arthur let us spool up all the original tapes for a track called "Do You Like It."  And the rest is history.  

So this one, it's 90%, the vocal fly-in came off for a split second but hey here is to 40 years.

The street lamp shadow poured into the alley, like a shot out of a mystery romance flick. No sound but the paper trash dancing in the city smoke reminded me I'm out of cigaret "this must be hell" I thought as I rest my back on the brick wall waiting for nothing to happen.
When suddenly a big bright yellow cadillac came gushing out of the main street. Stopping right ion front of me, a compelling voice creped out the back seat.
"Hey there stranger, looks like you need a drink, climb in"
Desperate and curious I got in the car, not after screeching to a halt, in front of a big door with neon lights...
