London-based pair Jack Rollo and Elaine Tierney aka Time is Away are continually exploring the relationship between time, place and power. They do so in a wide variety of ways from exhibitions for the Arts Council England to site-specific sound works, research projects to their nearly 10-year-strong NTS show. Stephan Laubner/STL's Homework LP was one of the first records I bought when I started DJing 'properly' back in 2007. 

If u don't know STL - very lofi, brittle, dubby, wooden, not overly bassy, discordant, minimal, scratchy, lush, strangely funky stuff, beautiful in its own way. And he does these locked grooves on most of his records, which I've mixed up here into a two hour special at 133⅓bpm. I recorded it with a new rotary EQ mixer (thanks Dean!) and then ran it through my Roland RE-201 Space Echo (thanks Maciej!)...

U might be surprised (if u listen) how organic and varied u can make a single loop, with the right EQing, cutting, boosting, fader tricks and so on - it was a lot of fun to mix, but I don't think this is a DJ thing just for other DJs.

Hope u enjoy... most of these locked grooves are on Stephan's label Something, a couple on Perlon, Echocord and so on.
