Cleopatra

Break 

How long? 
How long how long?
How long can I go until I break?

There’s a crack in my foot
Places where I can’t tread
Its a splinter, foreign to me 
It splits its way up my shins and into my knees
I need to walk there
I bite the tourniquet and pull it out

There’s a hole through my leg 
It disables me
It puts me down 
But I need to walk
Crawling on the ground, I turn around
And wrap my leg in a bandage

There’s a cut on my side 
I can feel the air sting it
It bleeds, dripping red over the dust
Things I have said to myself
I cannot walk with the negative
Dumping disinfectant, I stitch myself 

There’s a knife in my heart 
Things I once cared about 
Brought into question
Do I now?
I feel the pain coursing through my soul
I need to let go
The knife melts away 

How long?
How long how long? 
How long can I go until I break? 
 
I’m left with scars
But healed feet, legs, sides and heart

A scar 
I know Something happened 
But I healed 
We need time to heal
Gain what we once had
There will still be a mark though
Reminding us of what we lost
And what we had to work to get back 

How long can I go before I break?
When do the scars become too much? 

I’ll go one more day

Honey Bee

Look at me
Everything is one

Honey Bee
She works day in and day out
She is a paintbrush 
Cutting through Canvas
A light in a sea of colour
The portrait is one

Yellow and orange
Blue against the mountainous backdrop
She soars above all
Batting her wings to the hexes and the nectar
The sky is one

She flies to her home
The geometry glitters
Without one hex, the hive is compromised 
Her family and her friends
Structure is one

She huddles and scuttles
With those alike
No honey bee ever discounts another 
They all contribute, They’re all diligent 
But one Honey Bee shan’t be left 
The hive is one 

She lays for rest
The world buzzing around her
Her wings cease and her hands slow
She is content
Her life is one 

In a world where we are all one, 
How can we be one and only one? 
Honey bee lives her life as one of thousands

Do we have to? 

Everyone looks away when I am genuine
And is shocked when I say everything is one
How difficult must it be to understand? 
“Fit in”? No one bats an eye 

Would a better nest be built 
If a honey bee did something different?  
They all refuse to ask
But we can.
How can a honey bee become special?
