Upon learning that she was about to conceive and bear in her womb the Lord, Mary burst into a song of praise despite all the complications including slander, suspicion, and shaken trust that would inevitably follow as a result of this miracle. We see in the text how the condition of lowliness is a prerequisite to receive great things from God. God knows that until we are lowly, great blessings would destroy our souls. He then, brings us to the end of our horded sources, pulls the rug from under our feet, and leads us to the cross that stands before glory. We should then never despise the humiliation God gives but rather trust Him the mighty Savior who has riches immeasurable prepared for us in Paradise and rejoice in Christ, the ultimate one who was made lowly.

In Kevin's fourth part of his bible study, we consider three aspects of literary context: the structure of the Bible, genres, and surrounding context. We see the intentional arrangement of the biblical books, how individual books relate to each other, and how they coherently point to a the coming Messiah. We are introduced to some of the most common literary genres of the Bible, and learn how genre shapes our expectations and approach to the text. Lastly, we look at practical examples of how reading the surrounding context can eliminate erroneous interpretations.
