20.9.23 NEW Staff Choir - Falling Slowly

In her spare time, our Head of Primary Music is a musician in the Army Reserve. Mrs Glanville has recently passed her CEQ1 Alto Saxophone exam through the Royal Corps of Army Music, and has shared her experience with our pupils.

Emma Straughan from Castle School is a talented piano player, and she accompanied for this exam. This is a recording taken from their final rehearsal together on the eve of the recital!

Sothis was the brightest star in heaven and the star representation of the goddess Isis. She was of great significance to the Ancient Egyptians who  believed that she blessed them with ‘sacred illumination’ which is depicted in this composition.

At the Northumberland Church of England Academy Trust, we believe it is important for our pupils to see staff as singers and musicians. Staff regularly have the opportunity to join in with musical performances, both for our pupils and for our own wellbeing and professional development.
