Here's a special 1 4 y'all!

2 provide a bit of background:
For 5 years now I've been travelling to what has become the >same old place< in the region of Maramureș in Romania, where - on a hilltop near the remote village of Durușa - a lovely festival, in fact my favourite one, is being held in late August.

This mix is comprised of tracks that I played at this year's festival, with some extra spice from yesteryear added for good measure, so it is neither a recording of a live-perfomance, nor in any strict sense a retake of my set. Nevertheless, I do hope that I succeeded in capturing [at least] some moments of magic, because the atmosphere, the vibe, of the place & the people is nothing but!

As you may know - after a proper trip - there is no satisfactory way of putting a sublime experience into words (but perhaps into music?!), which is why I'll end here with a final note of gratitude >>>

Denys Sadchykov, @orbitdj is the representative of Ukrainian electronic stage, the member of the @aimed_music project and the co-owner of the self-titled vinyl only label - Orbit & @belogurov.
He have become famous not only in his home country, but also in the worldwide electronic stage thanks to vinyl and digital releases on labels like Adult Only Records, @aimed_music, @serialism, @drumma-records, @cyclicrecords, @ewaxberlin, SVET, @arupamusic, @silhouetted-music, Eclipser Chaser, HOARY. He is rightfully considered as one of the promising artist from Ukraine which definitely are worth paying attention to.
In 2018,  @orbitdj, @belogurov and @cheise started a new project called @aimed_music and the same-titled vinyl only label, which had received support and the first positive reviews from @resident-advisor, @mixmag-1 and @xlr8r.

Pluie/Noir Podcast is a bi-monthly audio-visual episode representing our work as an artist collective. Each episode will feature a one hour collage/mix by one of our producers/djs and a poster triptych by one of our designers. 
We interviewed both artists and dropped some questions about their vision:


PLACID STRAIT aka SHCAA

Welcome Monsieur Sacha. How are you feeling lately?
Shcaa: I'm feeling quite happy, thanks! Got my first vinyl released this week on Sharing Tones, and now this podcast.. two very precious things for me, all good!

You're a quite talented and heteroclite emerging artist. Does music fill your day-by-day routine? What do you do for a living?
Shcaa: I'm still a student. Even though, as I like to say, I often feel like I'm doing music and only studying in my free time.. I do not produce everyday though, and I'm not planning to make it my only activity. That comes only if I feel something. I rather have a listening routine! When I wake up, the first thing I do is play a record.

The story-telling and all it's betweens seem to be your major focus on music making. What are your main inspirations (not necessarily related to electronic music)?
Sacha: True, sometimes it is a story, sometimes it is simply a context, a set of mind that I am trying to reproduce. My tracks often represent something that I perceive as somehow important for me but remains ineffable, so I link it with the closest subjective ideas that come to me thinking of it, like some kind of very inner and nuanced feelings or memories. So I start by arranging a track somewhere in space, and I add many elements trying to reproduce those feeling. It's ideas that I cannot express with single meanings.

"Iz Pepla". What does it mean, how does it relate to your podcast, when and how was it recorded?
Sacha: I was going to name the podcast "from ashes" when it was half way done; I had this feeling it was somehow going back in time in the first part (or just a reverse of some sort), until there is nothing left, then going back again but through a completely new path. Then I thought "from ashes" sounded too holywoodian, so I translated it in Russian as I just came back from Moscow and I was quite moved by the whole experience there.
It's a cut-paste-edit of tracks, using quite a lot of field recordings to add a notion of space as well as consistency while going from one to another.

What are your plans for the future?
Sacha: Moving back to Paris this autumn! I left 15 years ago when I was just a child so it's definitely going to affect my creative process, as I started producing in London. I really want to express what I have in mind for Placid Strait the same way I'm slightly starting to do as Shcaa.


JULI JAH

Welcome aboard! How's life Juli?
Juli: Hey! Good days, busy, nice, colored. Ah, and sunny! Spring is finally here.

You have a bachelor in Interior Architecture. What do you do for a living nowadays?
Juli: Yes, architecture is great, but I play with way more smaller details than drawing floor plans, I draw illustrations.

Your work is balanced between ultra detail and the strictly necessary minimalistic strokes. How do you work most of the times, and how do you describe your technique?
Juli: Techno ink and needles. Music as my inspiration; watercolor, rapidograph and isograph ink pens as tools and techniques.
Topic, hard to say. Sometimes I have a briefing, sometimes not. I can only say that designs are at their best when a client trusts me entirely, and I do my work how I feel it needs to be done.

What can you tell us about your triptych?
Juli: Ah, those ladies. "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". You know it? Almost the same. And by the way, Shcaa made a great job too tying all this together.

What's next on your bucket list for 2012?
Juli: Creating more stuff, meeting more people and showing more arts.

An engine, in the following referred to by the term "N'djinn", is a machine designed to convert one form of energy into another.
In ultra-modern usage, N'djinn describes a device, akin to a steam engine as well as an internal combustion engine, that burn or otherwise consume fuel in order to perform, and this by way of thrust, thereby bestowing motion upon otherwise inert entities. Such entities are usually dispersed, but will have a strong tendency to unite due to the high-intensity exposure to (e)motion. Admittedly, the thrust-output emits the greatest amount of exhaustion because the method of producing thrust is directly related to the reproduction of sound. In other words, despite having a high level of endurance, N'djinn is not a perpetuum mobile.
Nevertheless, time is short, so to improve efficiency, the scope of N'djinn has increased, and so the rate at which N'djinn produces work. The higher forces and pressures created by these changes creates vibrations throughout an unknown universe. The operations brought about by N'djinn typically has a positive impact upon air quality and ambient sound levels. N'djinn can indeed also be understood as a thermoacoustic device that uses both low and high-amplitude sound waves to pump heat from one place to another, typically from vinyl via turntables and mixer through membranes; ultimately reaching the sensory organs of all entities exposed to these waves. In general, the thermoacoustics of N'djinn can be divided into captivated wave and travelling wave devices, i.e. recordings of and/or live performances. In either case N'djinn uses electrical energy to produce musical energy, usually through the interaction of magnetic fields and current-carrying conductors. Given that the majority of recordings utilized in both settings are defined by their rotation, N'djinn's speed is measured in revolutions per minute (RPM), while N'djinn's impact is measured in beats per minute (BPM). Regarding the case of sound levels, N'djinn's operation is always undertaken with respect to the sources of the system in question.

Yet N'djinn is a hybrid; not only a machine capable of setting things in motion, but also a genie capable of assuming human form and exercising supranatural influence over people.
The existence of N'djinn can be proven, even though arguments concerning the origin of N'djinn are beyond human comprehension.
The body encapsulating N'djinn must either be ethereal or made of solid material; if composed merely of the former, it would not able to do hard work, like carrying heavy records. If composed of the latter, it would be visible to any human with functional eyes.
Based on a so-called "modern" world-view, reinterpretated references to N'djinn as a microorganism in the grand scheme of things or an undetectable uncivilized person also occur.
The supernaturality of N'djinn does not mean it transcends nature, but that it might appear so in relation to the ordinary/everyday perception of nature. As an entity it is "natural" in the classical philosopical sense by consisting of an element, undergoing change and being bound in time and space. Thus it is not purely spiritual, but also physical in nature, being able to interact in a tactile manner with people and objects, and also subject to bodily sensations like sights and sounds. N'djinn supposedly comes from a sublunary realm, prone to reflection, however in equal measure related to the solar wind and may even appear - as an element of surprise - in mists or sandstorms.
