The next instalment on the ever-reliable imprint Robsoul is a 3 track EP, ‘El Urban’, from Ander B, a new producer from the Dominican Republic which is due for release on 20th June 2014. 

The three sample based tracks (spot the Blaxploitation classic that’s been cut up in the second track) vary in mood from discoesque-tech to cut and paste deepness but all have the same raw energy and all are the result of live jamming on Ander’s Akai MPC. Drawing on a rich variety of musical influences, from salsa, latin, jazz, soul and disco, the EP has been put together to capture the feel of, in Ander’s words, “…a portrait of the urban third world, like el barrio and los callejones…”.  The outcome is a fresh sounding package of dance floor orientated tunes.

Ander B swiftly follows up with his second EP in as many months for Robsoul, with the three track ‘El Monte’. June’s three-tracker ‘El Urban’ scored fans in Charles Webster, Terry Farley, Round Table Knights, Fish Go Deep and Mosca amongst others.

The producer, based on the Dominican Republic, draws in his musicon a rich variety of musical influences. Having released two vinyl samplers already this year in celebration of two decades in the game, Swedish-label Trunkfunk continues their twenty-year celebrations next month with the release of a full VA compilation. Nearly two hours long and twenty tracks deep, the VA includes the records from both previous vinyl samplers, as well as nine new tracks exclusive to this release.
