little tune i making to background some videos of us cooking 45 rib racks at once on a nuclear smoker we use for BBQ comps. kinda catchy might use the riff for something else. first cut on the guitar so i know its not 100%.

I thought recording was great for the circumstances, and the band had an awesome vibe. Just wanted to make a good solid mix and maybe add a little something. Uploaded stems into Studio One 2.5 Pro running on a Rain Computers Nimbus with Mia midi 24-96 card and pair of KRK rokit 5 monitors, also used Koss pro4aa headphones at times.

Listened the first few times in mono and did some volume blending. Switch to stereo and headphones, more blending, started introducing EQs, routed FX to group stuff. Switched to monitors, blending and fine tuning. As a whole I thought the dynamics of the band were great between the quiet and loud parts so didn't do any volume envelopes. I did add some panning to the guitar verse riff and later in spots to widen out the sound. Vocal drop got some pan also. 

The bleed on stuff was the worst for me. I would have liked a direct of the clean guitar on a separate track

Tr 1: kick: insert EQ- out to FX 1
Tr 2: snare: insert EQ- out to FX 1
Tr 3: overheads: insert EQ- L R imaging was skewed a bit< pan 28 right to level it- out to FX1
Tr 4: bass amp: out to FX 2
Tr 5: bass-DI: out to FX 2
Tr 6: guitar amp: insert EQ to compressor- out to FX 3
Tr 7: vox: insert compressor to EQ to expander- out to FX 3

FX 1: drums: insert tricomp to limiter to multiband dynamics- out to main
FX 2: bass: insert EQ- out to main
FX 3: room verb: insert room reverb- out to main

Main: average peak rms -16db: max peak rms -6db: no inserts at all

I didn't want to stomp all over this, most of the fx is conservative, the most outrageous thing I think I did was add the panning. just wanted a good render of a good live recording.

Gearfest Puremix contest-Oh Baby-Liza Colby Sound-NDStudio mix

I have had some form of a "home studio" for at least 10 years, but it was never quite what I wanted it to be. Besides working on recording and mastering for others never quite was able to make my own ideas come to light, the first couple computers I had weren't up to par and I work on most of my stuff, drums, guitar, all of it, basically alone. Anyways, have upgraded to a small but quality home setup and finding things a lot easier now to do alone, so i have some stuff to put out for opinions. I would really like to make some acquaintances though and work on mastering some other sounds. I have worked on many types of music and have an interest on working on any type of music no matter what my listening or writing style. As long as you can get me high quality stems/files and some basic info I can run full quality master projects not just stems or mixdowns.

for anyone here, you would be working with me through file transfers the only important thing is the computer and the software. unless you want me to add to your song which gets complicated with credits and all that. really just want to get more working experience and help out on good material if you can't afford a "proper studio" for the final polish.
