With this being my 5th installment for the show I consider it my Alumni mix now graduating from the previous 4 I produced over the last 4yrs. The NDYD Radio Show EP217 - guest mix by aJaX - Seattle

Before NDYD I used to be part of a DJ coalition in LA called the West Coast Collective (WCC). We were House DJs that mainly played Soulful and Jackin' but from time to time we would deviate to other styles that we loved. In my college days I was really into industrial and New Wave when I was a radio DJ in the college radio station but I was also a big fan of Hip Hop and especially G-Funk (imagine that).

Quite a few years ago, while I was still part of the WCC,  I made this mix where I went back to those days. A listener reached out and reminded me of it cause it was on other platforms online but no more. After much digging I found the original MP3 of the set I had done and here it is back again. Enjoy!

G-Funk for Fun Mix

I felt it was time to slow things down again and started a new series in the Yacht category. We now have Yacht Rock, Yacht Disco, and the new addition Yacht Lounge. It's not the first time I do a downtempo episode but I've done enough that it needs its own category. This show reminded me and made me feel nostalgic of 2015-16 when I use to travel to the south of  France and to Spain to play this style of music on fancy Yachts and bars/clubs by the beach as the sun was setting. Good times!

Lots of new lounge goodies, Disco, surprise edits including new fire that I receive as a promo this week from my friend @larslb on his label Deeper Shades of House that was just perfect for this episode and to close it out.  Close your eyes, relax, and enjoy the sunset.

Welcome back to the NDYD Radio Show. In this episode we return to the Deep End of the of the NDYD pool. If you are familiar with the show you know that the DEEP END series  focuses  on Deep House only and I believe that volume 4, aka EP320, is the deepest one so far. 

Moody, melodic but still wants to make you dance into the wee hours of the night. Perfect soundtrack while you relax, taking a long drive, or are doing an activity with your headphones on and still want a steady 4x4 beat that makes your head bop.

If you are a regular listener of the show you probably noticed that the only series of sets that I hadn't updated yet was The Deep End. It needed a little love so here is vol. 5 of this Deep House series.

The funny thing is I wasn't planning to do a Deep End mix but a regular show instead. I was just playing some new music and promos I had received and by the end my friend, who was with me when I recorded it, said "wow-that set was really deep". I responded "it was?" and took a proper listen again and she was right. I didn't even realize I was playing so deep. After the second listen, in my mind, this was going to go right into the Deep End of the NDYD pool. So here it is - ready to dive?

The NDYD Radio Show  EP350 - Special Guest Mix by Cloak Dagger

Welcome to a new episode  of the NDYD Radio Show. Did you guys missed me? I skipped an episode last week as we are rolling out new products at work and that is where all my attention has been.

To make it up to you guys I did, as requested by listeners, a new Mushroom Yacht episode. I didn't realize I only had made two of this popular series. Volume 3 of this new Mushroom Yacht clocks in at two and half hours of jazzy underground Hip Hop that rarely goes over 100 BPM. I actually played a lot of that sweet underground Hip Hop from the early 90s by artists like LL Cool J. Tribe Called Quest, Grand Puba, Black Sheep, 2Pac, Pete Rock and many more artists that were part of my youth. Hope you will enjoy it as much as I did recording it.

The NDYD Radio Show EP360 - Mushroom Yacht vol 3

It's that time again :)

Best of 2024 through out the year on the NDYD Radio Show. I only had one rule for a track to be in this compilation, it had to played during any of the shows that aired in 2024. This is not about how many sold or were popular (or not) just if it made it to a show this past year.

The track didn't have to have come out in 2024 either (tho alot did). Some of the tracks are a few years old but still were worthy of the 'best' in the selection. This was the method to my madness:

- about 60 shows in 2024
- pick one or two favorite track from each show
- that gave me a total of about 150 tracks
- out of the 150 I narrowed down to 100
- split the compilation in two parts:
     1 to 50 and 51 to 100 [coming next week]
- the tracks have no rating in terms of where they appear. I just made sure that they all mixed good together especially by key.

This is just my personal taste for the selection of these tracks - no science behind on how I picked them. This set is overt 4 hours long so make sure you are taking a long drive or train ride if you want to  listen to the whole thing ;)

This is my Holiday gift and thank you note to he faithful listener of the show. I'm posting this on December 25 so it still counts as a gift for your loyalty and support of the NDYD Radio Show over the last 8 years.

The NDYD Radio Show EP368-Best of '24 part 1

The NDYD Radio Show starts the year proper with EP370 which is the live recording of your host, right here, warming up the dance floor for Miguel Migs and Colette.

The event was amazing. I saw so much love and happiness coming from the dancers that it influenced how we were playing. At least it did for me.

As an opening act my only role is to get the crowd ready for the dance floor and for the headliners. From what I saw from the booth - mission accomplished. 

The 300 or so people that came, all  of them were on the dance floor when Colette and Miguel came on. That is usually the sign for a successful House Music event.

If you were there - this will bring back some good memories.

If you were not there - then this recording will give you the vibe you missed :)

The NDYD Radio Show EP375

Valentine's Day falls on Friday this year which is the day I upload the radio show for the Soundcloud version. Perfect timing to do another yacht lounge episode, specifically for Valentine's, as it's been a while since I uploaded the last one inhere.

For those who are not familiar with the Yacht Lounge collection, it is my series of downtempo / lounge / balearic sets. I slow the 'f**k' down of the selected tracks to put you in a serene and relaxed state. This set cruises from 70 bpm to a max of 110 bpm throughout.

Run yourself a bubble bath, light some candles, pour a glass of wine, close your eyes, and enjoy where the Yacht Lounge will take you and your significant one. Careful tho -  this is baby making music 😍

You will notice that you won't hear me in this one. This is the kind of set that needs to run uninterrupted. Enjoy the slow grooves and let me know what you think of it. Back next week with our regular House and Deep House.

The NDYD Radio Show EP384

EP-385 hits the ground running this week with  left over new tracks from last week that I didn't get a chance to play, lots of deep crate digging and some rare edits (one as premiere). The week was super busy and the tech higher ups got me on multiple projects (all fun and interesting) that I didn't even have the chance to look at new music. With a digital crate of over  20K tracks you think I would find something to play :) 

The stand out track in this episode is from a very good friend of 25 years here in LA. The guy who really turned me on to the House Music scene here in Southern California - Mr Thomas White of Natural Rhythm fame ( @natural-rhythm-music ). He reached out this week to tell me that he did a Fleetwood Mac edit/remix and if I wanted to hear it. Is the sky blue? Is the pope catholic? duh of course I wanted to  hear it! 

This confirmed to me again what I knew already - that TW is one talented mofo who is as pro as they got out there making music. I am so lucky to ghave friends like him in my life after all these years. Love that dude. Also in this episode this week another  mash/edit done by your truly in the early 2000s. I certainly don't have the talent for making music like lots of my friends do but I try :)

The NDYD Radio Show EP391

Welcome lovers of House Music for adults. Hoping you had a great week since the last episode. I certainly have by finishing big projects at work and starting new exciting ones. This week also felt like summer, and  it’s the kick off of Pride Month so lots of loving and good vibes in the air. 

I also got involved in a new art project where I will be supplying the soundtrack for ‘deiSogni’. As they describe it, this will be a  ‘an immersive rebirth of the collective dream through art, theatre, film, technology, and music.’ This is happening June 26-27 here in the LA Art District. As far as EP-392, it is dance floor ready a la ‘Glitterbox’ and it’s meant to be played loud at your summer get together and events.  Especially pool parties.  This episode was also recorded for the first time with my my new digital recorder. My old Zoom H4n finally took its last lap after using it for almost 15 years for the show and on the road. Thank God for Amazon next day delivery. I got the new 2024 version  of the H4n (now called H4 Essential) that is smaller, black in color, and has more buttons and technology than its predecessor. It took half a day to figure it out. I felt like Cassian Andor when he was trying to steal a prototype of the Tie Avenger (Star Wars fans know what I am talking about). The recording sounded pretty good in the studio so let me know if it feels that way from your end. I am only uploading WAV non compressed versions of the show now so it’s high quality audio. What Soundcloud’s audio algorithm does with it to stream it is beyond my control.

The NDYD Radio Show EP392

On Wednesday October 18th, 2017 Jask (@jask-thaisoul) and I were getting ready to attend the last show Depeche Mode was performing at the Hollywood Bowl on their 4 night sold out concerts at this iconic venue.

We are both big fans of this legendary band and we both have lots of edits and bootlegs of their classic tracks so we decide to pre-game before the show not by doing tequila shots but instead by recording and impromptu B2B set of some of our favorite tracks from DM. Hence the name of the mix.

If you attended the show in Los Angeles on Wednesday you will recognize some of the sound bites that I recorded on my phone :)

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Recently, Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.
