We got a special request from one of Loyal Listeners that wanted to hear some hits from Jody Watley and Samantha Fox in the Mix. After giving it some thought, we decided to kick it off with Lady T (Teena Marie).  We don’t here much on these artist so we feel that we need to bring back some Feel Good Music to your ear buds. Teena Marie had an amazing soulful voice. We have lost yet another artist too soon. She will never be forgotten. Lady T, Thank you for your music.

Friday Feel Good Quick Mix ~ Old School Party Mix Ft. Teena Marie

I've been getting requests for mixes like this. So I decided to record the early part of my set at STK one night. For the 1st 2 hours of the night, I can only play 80's & Early 90's to a mixed crowd. This is just a raw excerpt of the night. Please excuse the rough cut in & out. Enjoy!

80's & Early 90's Mix Live At STK

New Jack Swing is the first music I really started listening to and collecting.  I don't really remember songs from the 80's because I was born in '82, but I remember all of my schoolmates liked New Kids on the Block, and I hated bullshit bubble gum pop like that.  It wasn't until around 1990 that I really started paying attention to the radio.  The stations I remember at the time were Hot 97.7, 106.1 KMEL, and Wild 107.7 (Now Wild 94.9).  I would spend all day listening to those stations and recording the songs on tape, or watching MTV and recording the videos on my VCR.  I'll never forget when I got a CD player for my 10th birthday.  I worked odd jobs cleaning up yards and so forth so I could save up money to buy my first CDs, which ended up being Michael Jackson's "Dangerous", Mariah Carey's self titled first album, Janet Jackson's self titled album, TLC's "Ooooooh on the TLC Tip", Boyz II Men's "Cooleyhighharmony", and Bell Biv DeVoe's "Poison".  I listened to those CDs non stop (especially MJ) and drove my parents insane.  If you listen to most of my mixes, you can detect a bit of soul in almost every one.  It's because my roots as a music lover comes from music like this.

Episode 14 Classics With DJ Rumor: LiveSpin

Bio:
Nebakaneza, aka Danny Delorean is your favorite DJ's favorite DJ, and a true encyclopedia of many genres of music. 

When he was old enough to get a job, he started working at various record stores, but all his earnings went right back into buying music. He majored in radio broadcasting, soon becoming the music director for his college radio station, and won an award for broadcaster of the year. He then created his first DJ alias: DJ Imani, and started spinning Trip Hop and House 4 nights a week at various bars and clubs. Around this time he started working his day job at a big name radio station doing audio editing for Ryan Seacrest and voice over work for ads. He eventually landed his own late night electronica show, acting as both music director and host. He also held a small internship at Om Records, as well as the Surefire talent agency, and eventually started his own wedding DJ business to get some of that sweet sweet normie money.

After getting sick of hearing Top 40 all the time, and falling in love with Dubstep, he created the Nebakaneza alias and started a weekly event in San Francisco with his business partner Johnny 5, called Ritual, which lasted for 6+ years and at one point was the largest reoccurring Dubstep event on the West Coast. They expanded into Los Angeles and other clubs in San Francisco. Later, he became a music director for another commercial radio station, Live 105, for their late night Dubstep program, Wobble Wednesday. He was on the cover of the SF Bay Guardian newspaper and won their annual Goldie award. This alias expanded from just Dubstep and now includes Midtempo Bass, and Electro/Breaks/Detroit Techno, among other face smashing beats.

He created a third alias: Danny Delorean, to spin Synthwave, Nu Disco, and other fun bouncy music, and soon after became the co-host of Turbo Drive, which is the longest running, and largest monthly Synthwave event in the world. He would later become a manager at DNA Lounge nightclub, acting as the Talent Buyer, and marketing manager, then the General Manager and Bar Manager at Temple Nightclub in SF.
