Moog City 2! An enchanting piece that uses a bunch of effects to create a mesmerizing looping background with a chilling piano lead. A great song to practice using effects. Did my rendition do the same? Eeeeeh...It's not perfect. But I'm happy with it. I'm learning to accept imperfection. Perfection is one of the main reasons nothings been uploaded here for...Jeez, a year an a half?! Was it really that long?! I've got so many WIPs in the background, I never realized it'd been so long since I finished one. well...It's done now. hopefully more will follow.

I still *think* about doing music, ideas for various covers are still a constant and I often recall the many WIPs gathering dust, but the hobby has fallen to the wayside in lieu of other aspirations and life events. I've become a writer, something I find deep passion in. I've been working both a full time and part time job to save for the college I'm moving to in a week. With everything going on, my already waning confidence in my music quality took hold. That lack of confidence is in part from my use of only free instruments/sound fonts/DAW, and in part from my general lack of experience being largely self taught on the subject. When making songs, I felt like I was working in circles, spending hours on a 3 second segment, playing it over and over and over and over again in a desperate struggle to find how to fix what felt off about it. But with my toolset, there was never much to be done. And so I fell off of it entirely. I haven't opened the music program in months. it's been even longer since I worked on anything. This song has been sitting on my computer for almost a year at this point, and I never bothered to upload it. There's still the spark of inspiration, but I think my fire for music has largely gone out.I suppose it's fitting then that this song is a lament. This cover came out of a desire to experiment with fine-tuning the piano VST I had to get it to sound more realistic. I believe I succeeded in that front, and that paired with the simplicity of the song itself and a few extra piano flourishes left me with a pretty good cover. Simple and clean.I don't know what my future for music is going to look like. Maybe I'll get hit with a burst of inspiration to light the fire again. Maybe I'll compile all my WIPs into a single upload. Most of them are %80-95 percent done so they're listenable (for the most part), but I could never get the finishing touches quite right. Whenever I'd try to finish a song I would end up spending my time making miniscule adjustments to parts I already finished, and never make any actual progress. But the parts that *are* done I'm still proud of, so maybe I'll toss them out down the line. Ok, for those reading, I got a few things to say.

First off, this song was the most fun I've had remixing so far. the different parts (which there are 17 of, btw) all add their own flourishes to the piece and make it a blast to recreate. I highly suggest anyone wanting to get into music to try this one out first. the individual parts of the song are easy to make, and form a very nice result when put together.

Secondly, I know this doesn't have any percussion. A little behind the scenes info for ya; this was made before I did the Battle Tower theme. the next one should have percussion, its just not my strongest suit right now. Give me some time to learn, ok?

Lastly, I have an update on my upload schedule. As I get better at doing remixes, they are getting more and more complex. Pair that with the fact that percussion pretty much doubles the time it takes to make a song for me, and a week for a single song just doesn't seem feasible anymore. Therefor, I will be changing my uploads to every other Saturday. I'm sorry if this is sad to hear, but I really want to have the time to make each upload the best it can be.

Guess what?! I learned to use percussion! Now, mind you the software I use doesn't have the best of percussion choices, but I do my best with what I have.

This one was the most difficult song I've done this far, by a long shot. the double arpeggios alone took me 2 hours! Nevertheless, this was still a blast, and I think it turned out pretty good anyways.

So I'm dealing with a big issue right now: art block. I dunno if it's from burnout, or my software's lackluster set of instrument choices, but I can't get anything to work right now. I'm sorry, but the way things are looking, I can't make a new song in time for my schedule. So, for the time being, just wait. I'll give it a rain check and see if things get better later. If they do, I'll let you guys know.

I started this thing last year, and a combination of school, working on another big project, and the virus sweeping the world caused a lot of motivation loss. But, I chipped at it, and eventually got it done! Though, from now on, I'm gonna take a "we get there when we get there" approach when making music in the future. Having no deadline lets me make something I'm proud of, rather than filling a quota.Doing this song taught me a lot of new tricks. I'm now a pro...a little bit better at using reverb, and I've gotten better at finding the diamonds in the rough when searching through LMMS's overly extensive yet subpar library. Finding the right mix of each piece of the instruments was a tad annoying, but doable after some tinkering. overall, I'm pretty happy with this one. All the flaws felt like the software letting me down, rather than the opposite, so I'm happy knowing that this was the best I could do!
