We all spend too much time staring at screens, working, reading, watching, clicking whatever there is to click, aren't we?
This is something that's been on our minds a lot lately, and when the topic came up with RAS STIMULANT, he was immediately into the idea of making this the subject of a song... and today, we are proud to tell let you know that the SCREEN OFF 12 " EP will be out on June 14th!
 
Besides that very title track, the record features LIGHT THE WAY in it's original version plus the stunning IRON CURTIS Illuminati Mix - we could not be any more happy with how this package turned out! But the fun does not stop there - for all you vinyl DJs, the wax contains the exclusive SCREEN OFF Accapella as well as a little IRON CURTIS Remix Reprise!

You know what else is crazy? SCREEN OFF is actually the 100th - let's spell that out - ONEHUNDREDTH - record to be released on DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR, our "label home" for 15 years now!! To celebrate the occasion, we came up a little video for SCREEN OFF (oh, the irony :D) that you can watch here:

Local Talk label boss Tooli remixes "Thank You" by Rico Herrera. According to Tooli himself this was done using the ol' classic cut'n'paste method from the original parts. Parts from an old CD-Rom containing drum sounds completed the remix.

With Lukas Lehmann, a new face joins the footjob-squad. Out of his estimated 7.436 unfinished projects, he managed to complete three tracks, bag a remix and bundle it all up to what will hit the stores as 'This Is Why' EP. The A-Side kicks off with the discoish banger 'Q&H' and a beautiful synth-heavy remix by Lorenz Rhode - not only famous for his releases on Compost Records or Exploited but also for taking Detroit-Swindle-Liveshows to another level with his godlike keys-skills. The deeper side of Lukas' sound is represented on the B-Side. Starting with edgy piano chords, 'Solid/Fragile (Coexistence)' introduces an enchanting arpeggio midway through the track. With its distinctive strings, 'Nothing But A Heartache' makes for a semi-sentimental yet still hips-moving finisher.

After nearly two decades of silence, Brian “Javonntte” Garret has since re-established himself within the deep house realm. Returning to the scene in 2016, he has released a plethora of quality records on label such as Let's Play House, Hardmatter, proving that he is indeed here to stay. The newest release from Quintessentials, “How Is Club246”, a basic 4-track, is anything but. The EP serves as somewhat of a retrospective, wherein Javonntte pays homage to his musical past, specifically his 90’s motor city Chicago roots.

Quintessentials is a label that promotes, you guessed it, quintessential underground music. Known for putting out, no-nonsense, softly produced, raw underground house, Javonntte has certainly met the criteria.

Our choice “Remember”, the first on the EP, features everything you could ask for from a Chicago-Style house banger. The track contains two main motifs, Javonntte’s poetic vocals, as well as classically crisp and dynamic deep house. What makes this track so special is that it’s not overly layered, nor lacking in any way. The elements of the song have been boiled down to the necessities, creating a cohesive and nuanced mix. The title of the EP begs the question, “How Is Club246”, and Javonntte does an exceptional job in painting a vivid picture of a thriving, diverse venue that he is clearly still very much infatuated with. As cliche as it sounds, this is the kind of track that transports the listener to another era, breeding jealousy for those who were able to witness such a thriving time in house music.

“What is Club246” is releasing on 30 April.

A warm welcome to Detroit producer Javonntte for his first Quintessentials release. Javonntte has been releasing his blend of pure deep house quality for years and his „how is club246“ is another fine example of his great talent. So how is club246? First of all the title is an hommage to a club in Detroit in 1996. And Javonntte’s interpretation of club246 is diverse! The opening track has a slight Kerri Chandler flair, whereas Club246 is a pure pumping club tool for all you DJs out there. The B-side goes deeper. Worldmix is a slow, deep (hell yeah) and hip hopish low bpm groover, whereas Citylights is a classic vocal deep house track. Club246? Proper house music – all night long!
