It is the overgrown park, the written word on the demolished building, the pulsating light of a dead star, the tiny fragments of color breaking through the concrete, the fear that love isn’t enough, the silence after the machines stopped. Silk Sofa is proud to present the "Life Lines" EP by UK artist Data Rebel. We recently witnessed Data Rebel's first contribution to our imprint with his remarkable remix of Jani R's "A Thousand Flares" single. "Life Lines" is a collection of three unique and memorable downtempo cuts.

"Plink" takes off with a truly haunting breakbeat and tranquil synth stabs. Subtle piano stems slowly emerge, while stunning sound effects add further texture to the soundscape. Breathtaking guitar elements are introduced later, which brilliantly accompany the soothing piano notes. In "Broken Note" an array of delicate rhodes stabs emerges, while a mesmerizing breakbeat is slowly introduced. A light theme lead appears later, and the well-structured sound effects continuously maintain the memorable atmosphere, delicately accompanied by lush piano melodies on top. Finally, "Karman Line" starts off with a slow breakbeat and deep bassline notes. It does not take long for the song to evolve into a stunning piece with tremendous sound effects and gorgeous soundscapes. Data Rebel's signature sound is in full effect in this song, including hypnotizing melodies and outer worldly textures.

Minimal basslines, plucked sequences, reverbered arpeggios and glitched drums: that’s what "Need a Name" soul was made of, and still is.

Completely based on electronic sound design and affected by all the details which marked its very own fingerprint, the journey with Need a Name starts again as another side project.

This first release is a 4-track EP which is deeply inspired by the very first Need a Name albums, such as "Sizzling Plucks" and "What You Were, What I’ve Become”, to bring back what really made it special.

Its concept is about embracing humanity.
From the beginning of our journey to the end of our days, from the first memories to none of them. 
Everything has a beginning and of course, an ending.

At the end, we all have to Embrace our nature as we know it.
