03. Kharabayu Boy Bege - Rupankar

The theme has a very mediterranean feel. i just used 5 instruments- accordian, mandolin, muted guitar, bells & clarinet. The film is placed in the 60's when feudalism is collapsing and a certain collective alternative is slowly making waves. This undertone of the mediterranean flavour celebrates the spirit of the once elegant & grand Dutta mansion, which is now crumbling....the inherent melody has an undertone of pathos as the Dutta family slowly crumbles. However the tune compliments Rono's journey....like a river of tears & memories flowing by his side. Finally when Rono reconciles & starts understanding his father...the tune has almost becomes one with his spirit, his success & his journey of becoming a film maker who is actually telling his story in retrospect. Deliberately gave the instrumentation & arrangment a very 'French' organicity. It immediatly takes us back in nostalgia as looked through the lens of a grown up Dutta- one who looks at his past....sometimes pathetic, sometimes humourous, sometimes tragic- but he looks at them with a lot of love.
